Hi, 6DL/Garuda claw monk here. I just switched to summoner.

Monk has the lowest dps right now from what I've seen in the primal fights and the first turn of Bahamut, they also require the most work to maintain their max DPS, which is below DRG and all of the ranged classes.

Also shoulder tackle has stun tacked on to it, which means you cannot use it in most fights due to the tank needing to time stuns due to the 3 stun Diminishing returns.

They might do better as they scale with level 90 gear, but that's far off.

@Veis : Monk upkeep is difficult but the damage is far from low.

Just because you have Gear und Claw doesnt mean you understand the class. Just like in other games ppl tend to think that gear means "skill" or what so ever. A well played monk pulls out alot of dmg and is for not "low". And the fact that monk is more fast paced and harder to keeping up the damage makes it even more fun. I only agree that there should be done something abt the GL stacks though.

CORRECTION: A well played monk does a lot of damage on a tank and spank.

There are very few fights where monks are at a meaningful disadvantage, our damage is very competitive.

    Er.......
Monks would theoretically deal the most DPS out of all classes if they are fighting a non moving boss/enemy. However, monks are ALWAYS at a meanigful disadvantage as boss fights mostly would require a lot of movement and Monks will have to dance around which delays their damage potential.

So far, having a DRG to 50, and bringing up a MNK just so I Could get Mantra for my DRG...

My MNK is far out performing my DRG at same level content. High mobility bosses are not much of an issue unless the boss is spinning like a top. Has no one noticed the big, glowing circle indicator under the boss' feet? ARrow pointing in direction facing, a semi circle with no double line showing rear, and past that is flank. YOU cna literally sit just on that line, shifting a little to left and right. Boss moves? Move with the boss for rear positionals, more against for quick flank positionals. Only problem is losing GL stacks on teleport gimmicks.

I don't know. MNK just " feels " flat out better. Better sustained, better utility versus drg. Maybe I'm crazy. Its damage is definately not " low. " lol

I was gonna post exactly this. Main reason I dumped all my tomes for full DL on BRD instead of MNK
But seeing how everybody is slobbering over PLD these days think i may just burn my myth tomes for dat set and just see how that works out for me. i feel like i wasted a lot of time grinding BRD gearing up, then grinding MNK only to NOT gear up and go with PLD instead

    fml lol

oh and HEY Reis! didn't know you posted

psst remember when i said monks were a waste of time? heh heh I see you went SMN and never looked back eh? i dont blame ya

Monk is flat out better, but where Monk suffers is the DPS loss from the endgame phases where getting Greased back to 3 takes quite a while, when Dragoon can just get its buffs back by doing what we do just to get the good damage off singular skills. We both position but for different reasons, Dragoons position to upkeep buffs, we position just for more potency. But the bigger difference being if you lose a buff, you can just get it back, if we lose Grease 3 We can't just get it back. And so our DPS suffers for a bit.

Because there's more at work than just Teleports, We also are melee like you, Just moving outside of an AoE if you don't get to coreul stance in time can be a loss of GL3. Movement heavy phases can also lead to skill disconnects which lead to losing our buff. Our damage is very unstable, it'll periodically be higher than yours and dip much lower than yours throughout fights. The only saving grace is our DoT's will keep the % damage buff from GL 3 while they tick.
