I hope you're wrong since I fell in love with the game. I want to hold out hope that the syncing issue will be addressed and fixed. It would really break my heart if this becomes "working as intended".Agreed with this one, but they aren't going to fix it.
At best they nerf the hell out of content.
If this was considered unacceptable by them they would have fixed it in the alpha/beta.
If they considered this important they would not have put the EU and the US in the same data centre in freaking Canada.
They didn't even bother with having the animation in sync with the cast.
Yes you,me and others might think the delays are horrible, but an equal amount of people think it's 'skill' to battle the lag.
Each their own fun I guess.
I don't think most people want to give this game a shot if they see this type of delay issues, it is also bad reputation.
But I doubt SE cares much about that anyway.

Don't worry - I feel the same way. But, I believe that it is in SE's interest to fix this huge flaw. We just have to find constructive ways to let them know that it is becoming an very large impediment to enjoying such a wonderful game.
You'd be surprised how many resources a development team that boasts a healthy income and a positive but critical player base has. Something as large as fixing the net coding can be done.
This is a very popular issue with online games. If you look at the evolution of netcoding in fighting games over the last generation of consoles you will see a HUGE improvement (designers just have to learn from their mistakes.) Usually it takes a new instalment of the game for the issue to be fixed, but that is the beauty of MMOs. They can patch a significant change in if they have the resources to.

Truth be told I hope I'm wrong and that they actually pull a fix for this so we can all laugh about this in a couple of months.
In fact I hope every white knight gets to chance to tell people like me 'told you so' and that the server checks won't exists any more in their current form.
How ever when you claimed to address the issue since 1.0 , state 2.0 will fix it.
State on the beta forums you fixed the issue while nothing changed at all.
Then continue to put it now under 'bug accepted' while not saying a word I kind of don't believe it.
This is how they coded their game, people that studied for this looked at it and after tests they said to each other ' this is acceptable'
The problem didn't fell out of the sky and it didn't sneak in.
The only way you can have this if you as dev think this isn't a problem.
I don't see why they would suddenly be motivated to fix it.

This is exactly the reason I don't have too much hope, either =(
It's so saddd

The people "that studied for this looked at it and after tests they said to each other ' this is acceptable'" should be ashamed and need to be fired. Can't say or think otherwise.

Yep pretty much this, there are too many people defending SE on this, so they can afford to leave it as is. SE simply has low standards for these things.Truth be told I hope I'm wrong and that they actually pull a fix for this so we can all laugh about this in a couple of months.

Something does not feel right with your game: http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/86836-The-Navel-(Hard)-plume-animation-damage-impact-out-of-sync http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/71728-The-problem-with-Instant-OFF-GCD-abilities-makes-combat-feel-less-rewarding http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/91388-Silence-not-taking-effect-even-though-it-is-used-before-enemy-finishes-the-casting http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/86887-Unable-to-activate-skills-even-though-UI-displays-them-as-available-for-use

Very true.
Even now, with a mountain of videos showing the problem and an accepted bug report that is still outstanding proving that the devs acknowledge that it is real, we have people coming to these forums saying that there isn't a problem and blaming the players.
It is a real problem, but it seems unlikely they can fix it so we just have to accept that. They built brand new servers (hardware and software) to address it and here we are today with the same problem. There's not much more they can do.
The game is great and if you're willing to work around the lag problem it can still be enjoyed. I hope that one day it will be fixed but I'm not holding my breath.

Whats worse is that there is a F2p game that has absolutely no lag and is amazingly responsive...
Unfortunately, everything else about that game *cough*TERA*cough* Blows ASS... even the battle system
But at least it is responsive....
Play 2 accounts side by side and you'll notice both characters see each other in real time... with no delay. And that game is extremely similar to this. Same red dodging circles... Similar controller Scheme. If they can do it using good old Unreal 3... why can't SE with their new fangled engine
That proves that it's not impossible... and it's not inevitable lag due to the internet.
200ms ping =/= 1 second delay
