    Most lucrative profession?

Hey guys, I was wondering which profession(s) is capable of making serious bank. Which one do you think is the most lucrative? If you could share your experience both pre-and-post-lvl50 professions I'd appreciate it!

    Everything but Armorer I'd say.

Virtually none of them are particularly profitable in terms of making and selling gear. However, several of them are extremely profitable from making components for other crafters. Leatherworker, weaver, and goldsmith in particular you can make pretty absurd amounts of money just selling basic components because multiple other tradeskills require them.

That will change eventually as people get bored and level up more and more classes though.

I have a problem with how cheap the NPC vendor can sell you 99 of the low level stuff. It makes it so that if you go and farm something like cotton bolls right outside Gridania - something outrageously boring to make, yet something everyone needs - you have to contend with NPC prices rather than building a base economy.

When you get to that intermediate level where NPCs no longer spoonfeed you mats, it's a vicious grind with other crafters, forcing prices to skyrocket in some cases.

To answer the OPs question, I see lots of people get into weaving or leatherworking early, due to so many DPS classes using those for armor. And if the crafters don't have the patience to get the mats for free (botany and mining), I would say sell modest quantities of ores, grass/cotton, alumen, and crystals (because people generally don't like being forced to buy 99 of something because that's all there is listed.) Pre-50, for people needing mats, BTN and MIN would be my opinion.

Just wanted to point out that Armorer makes good money(with or without mining), I noticed a lot of players are under the impression that it is not profitable.

I think they are all profitable. Even more so when you have the DoL level to farm mats instead of buying them.

Ive made well over 4m since release selling Blacksmith made tools and PLD/WAR relics. It is starting to slow down, but i still sell tools for 120k a pop (HQ). MIN50/ARM50/BSM50. Of the three BSM has been the best.

So, how exactly are you making a profit with ARM?
Are you talking about selling cobalt sets for spirit bonding? if that's the case the pats required to make the armor sells for more than the armor itself.

Sure you can try and spirit bond it yourself, but thats just a large gamble considering you can get 5 dif materias out of it, and only one of them would be worth the effort.

Please, do enlighten me on how to make money off of it.

None at the moment. If you take into account bots and the fact that the 2nd, third, and forth generation of crafters are hitting 50 this week and next, the numbers just add up to a bubble economy in the process of correcting itself. Everyone logged in at launch and saw Sunstone Rings for like 8000G and thought "I can make that." Fast forward a month and everyone can make them because everyone leveled up to 50. Now they run for cost + labor at like 500G. Just how it goes.

I have only done Goldsmithing so far, but find it to be fairly lucrative. The great thing about goldsmithing is every class / job / gatherer / crafter in the game has need for necklaces, bracelets, rings, and earrings.

The key to making money is to constantly watch the market and see what is getting flooded and what is needed. Never sell more than 2-4 of each item type because once you do, you'll bring a lot of attention to your market and it'll get flooded.

For example, if I see brass rings are going for 800g each and mythril rings are only at 1000, I'll sell a few brass rings and look around for other items that are in demand at the time. I know that sooner or later, mythril will be back in demand and selling for 2500 if I'm patient.
