I'm definitely not a "rush to 'endgame'" gamer, but people can and will do what they enjoy. There's a type of gamer that plays "non-stop", 60+ hour weeks, gets all the loot, gets bored, then quits. It's just that we're in that "gets bored" period. Soon many of those will quit. Maybe come back at each patch/expansion.

But those are just the ~10%. Most people at this point are somewhere between 1 class at or near level cap and a handful of classes in the mid-levels (not counting version 1 characters). Plus SE hasn't been selling the game since launch, and there are lots of people who either can't buy it or are waiting for the launch glitches to be resolved. None of these are "hitting a wall" yet.

    Edit: additional:

There are always players who want to rush to 50 in every new game or find out who is the highest level. While surfing the web I found a page called 'Im 50 now what?'
Here is the link. http://accomp.me/ffxiv/im-50-now-what/ I think I found this when I was reading someone elses forum post earlier today.

The devs don't "make it a run to endgame" THE PLAYERS DO!!!

Someone who's 50 before a month's up clearly made their choice to ignore 90% of the game in their headlong charge to 50. If that's what they wanted, fine, but they can STFU about 'lack of content', the content is there, THEY CHOSE TO IGNORE IT!

Nope. The devs create a game that revolves around end-game, and thus make getting to level cap and accessing said "endgame" (that isn't really endgame, as it's where the game "starts" according to the devs themselves) an effing breeze. They themselves create this situation - they dig themselves into this ditch that will only have them spending a lot more money and effort trying to develop more petty instances faster because everyone will just be stuck waiting for something new to clear. If you've read any of Yoshi's posts - particularly the one where he talked about the direction of the game and his vision as a (exceedingly casual) gamer himself, you would know by now that his intention was, indeed, to create a game that was a mindless rush to endgame. He even went as far as to say that in every new game he plays, he wishes there was this "magical button that would bring him to the level cap so that he could enjoy the endgame", for crying out loud...

I don't think I rushed at all... got to level 50 with Paladin In about 3 weeks. But rather than hop on the endgame treadmill and get thrown into endgame with people that are lacking in social skills, I chose instead to hop on Conjurer and level that. With about a week under my belt there, I am sitting at 25 and all I've been doing is grinding dungeons. In addition to that, I have leveled every other battle class up to 15 (with the exception of Lancer, which I am saving). XP in this game is not hard to get if you know what your doing. Heck... you don't even have to grind FATE's to get it either. XP gain increases at a gradual clip as you gain levels... so while you start out getting 25-50xp per kill, by the time your in the late 40's, your getting 350-500 xp per kill (and that's without rested xp).

I wish people would stop labeling other people. Elitists, speedrunners, rushers, casuals, noobs. So many labels... and yet the people using those labels usually fail to acknowledge that different people have different playstyles. There is no right or wrong way to play a game (barring playstyles that involve glitches/exploits/hacks that is). Stop being so bloody judgemental people!
