There were way too many annoying busy-work quests between anything interesting happening.

Now that I think about it, there's a few parts in the story I felt could've been better. I still did enjoy it, but I agree with what you're saying. In fact these quests I find, and now looking back, had made pivotal parts of the story quite jarring and out of the blue. Combine these parts with poor build up and the delivery just makes these parts feel out of place, so much to say "wait, did that just happen?". This is great for affect, but I feel it doesn't quite work right when you go back to doing the same thing after the story dramatically shifts. Climactic parts should be felt in the buildup to the next, not completely thrown out of the window.

Case in point: CCH. That was more a filler than an episode of Naruto.

Apologies for being so vague. It's quite hard to critique a story when the game is still new, and not everyone has been through it yet.

I would still recommend the game though... the story post-Garuda actually becomes rather enjoyable

What I've been disappointed with is how all the NPCs in the cutscenes are like using /emote which our players do for their expressions. Nothing unique or nothing like FMVs which Square usually does wonderfully. (I'm talking about you mostly Cid..)

But I agree, I'm very satisfied with the game in its entirety.

Absolutely agree, this game is basically awesome. It's amazing to see how literally packed full of people the world is, no matter where you go. I think Yoshi and his team did a miraculous job of re-making it. (Thanks you guys!). I haven't felt this good about a mmorpg since Burning Crusade. This game is at the top of the mmo genre right now, and without a doubt they are still hard at work perfecting it.

A few tweaks here and there and this will be the new standard, if it isn't already. Go ahead and flame me if you disagree; I've played them all and this one truly hits the mark.

I disagree but it was worth the 30 dollars at least. Many games aren't worth the paying price.

With the recent advent of negativity (on the forums), i feel the need to update this thread.

FFXIV gives me that adventurous feel i missed in other mmos. It also has a great sense of community and the rudest thing i've seen by far was the gold spam.
People do not spam chat with mindless trolling brubbel, they enjoy the game and help eachother, or casually chat.

I also believe that the negativity on the forums will drastically lessen after the "free" month is over, and good riddance to them i say.

I don't get why people say the world is small, and I played copy paste fantasy 14(FFXIV 1.0).. What do people really expect from a relaunched mmo, that the world was completely remade in?
