They did it in FFXI too, They would offer level up services in Abysea so you could AFK level jobs if you paid them 100-500-1000k gil for specific blocks of time. They would then turn around and sell that gil on their sites.

Considering that you are only lvl 23 I wont blame you for not knowing that gil isn't exactly something you get a lot of when you are lvl 50

You'd be quite surprised actually... One of the best ways to gain mass amounts of gold is by selling endgame content runs and if you look at WoW you'll get quite a few Asian based guilds on most NA/Oceanic servers advertising in trade selling heroic content and pvp carries for ingame gold or real world currency.

They're mercenary groups. They develop a solid plan that they can execute even without you along for the ride (though you're still expected to perform to a certain degree) and charge you for a guaranteed victory. This has been around for many MMORPGs.

It's a choice, though. People willing to pay will do so. People unwilling to pay will do so and not use mercenary groups. It's a legit form of business in an MMORPG.

..No, the people offering these services are people who have figured out that this is a good way to make some extra gil.
Considering that you are only lvl 23 I wont blame you for not knowing that gil isn't exactly something you get a lot of when you are lvl 50, unless you pick up a DoL/DoH, so having an extra income isn't bad.

For those who'll come in and argue that the repair costs are lowered now, yes they are. But that doesn't mean that everyone is rich now and therefore do not want more gil.

Also, I'm not selling any runs. I just do not see a problem with people who do it as I consider it a legit way of getting cash.

This is not 1.0 and how many of your characters are level 50?
My point of that comment was not to belittle you, my point was that as you are leveling, gil doesn't seem to be a problem but it becomes one when you've reached level 50 and start buying material you need + repairing. Unless you've spent your time on crafting/gathering and then selling stuff on market.

Ok onto the OP's point, these FC members could be doing something to benefit themselves or another member of their FC but for a price will stop what they are doing and guarantee a successful battle in some of the hardest trials. Where do you see a issue here, they feel their time is worth something I guess that idea just is to much for you.

To the OP, there is nothing wrong with the selling of endgame content for an in game currency since it is an amazing way for a guild who has the capacity to carry others the ability to fund their materia/repairs for the gear and content to come.
Personally I've sold heroic raid kills in WoW in guilds I've been in and we did just that we used the gold we earned via selling runs to fund the whole guild's flasks, gems, enchants and food for the current and following raid tiers.

Not a big deal. Until people can get it in their heads that they shouldn't rely on random DF groups for endgame content (or any group related activities, ideally), it's technically an actual service/help to the folks that need it. Let them take advantage of other people, it's better than cheating the system lol... IMO anyway.

I think it's probably the best use of in-game time. I bet they are all geared from said content already. So now they will amass a gil fortune and then EBAY the account for a nice lump of cash. I mean the "endgame" here is the total opposite of fun and interesting. The fact there is such a large market for paid runs is evidence of that. Once players get their shiny weapons the allure wears off in a week or two. This game turned out be such a dissapointment. Oh well, im sure the special snowflake hardcore raider crowd is in love with this trash.

There is nothing wrong with this, it's a great way for people that only do battle content to make money.
