I just don't get my knickers in a twist over a video gameThis has nothing to do with being stressed but rather with being agrivated that their second release of the same title is having serious issues that will push people away from the game again. I like the game, its a great game WHEN you can play it but they need to fix this quickly. People like yourself hinder progression. The whole relaxed and it will be fixed when its fixed attitude is not how customer service works in the real world.
Not sure if you saw it, but from that link:...
You make it so easy to discredit you... Read this link about the 3 smaller server groups now: http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodest...66d5ddfed8ac50

SE is obviously aware of the issue where people are forced to wait for instance servers to become available and has been taking steps to alleviate the problem. This patch increased the number of instance servers that are available.Originally Posted by Lodestone
[Increased Number of Instance Worlds]
The Duty Finder and quest instance battles are handled internally in their own separate Worlds. In addition to the above measure of easing server load by splitting the selection pool amongst the above groups, we have also increased the number of instance-related Worlds on which battles occur.
This measure allows the facilitation of more instances, decreasing cases in which players must wait for an instance to become open after they have already been matched by the Duty Finder or the quest instance battle has been initiated.
The duty finder groups have been split into smaller sections, certainly, but the number of instance servers has increased, not decreased.
I'm going to assume that this is still just part of SE's overall server upgrade, and not the final form of it.
Well one thing for sure is that this will repeat itself on every release of new content, and especially on new content because by then, almost everyone will be ready to do them, and it will be far worse than it is now. Now we still have a lot of the population leveling, doing crafting, just generally roaming the world. When new content is released, those instance servers is going to experience much more people than there are now.
Back in WOW I think this same thing happened in WotLK. We would gather in front of instance portals and just bounce in and out of the portal in the hopes that one of our raid members would get to grab a spot on the instance server. So this is not really entirely SE's fault. It will become, though, if they don't don't something about it :3

Asking a newb question here as I'm only level 30 atm but... isn't possible to form your own party and enter the dungeon with the npcs at the entrance?
That's how it worked in 1.0 but I'm not sure if in 2.0 you can only do this with duty finder.
The issue people are running into is that they are forced to wait outside the dungeon due to a lack of available instance servers. This problem occurs even if you have a fully pre-made party, as you still need to reserve and enter an instance server for your dungeon run.
I assume this problem is most notable at high levels, due to the number of people trying to run the same dungeons (Amdapor Keep, apparently), as lower level dungeons don't experience this issue at all.

They stated they increased the number of instance servers but reduced the number of server per group thus reducing the number of potential people queing in any give group.
They didn't need to shrink the server group size to increase the instance servers... they simple needed to add more servers.
It is interesting that it isn't just hardware bound, i.e. how much hardware do we have available for running instances, but also software bound i.e. AK gets only a maximum of 1K concurrent instances even if there is hardware available to support more. This means that it may be an easier fix than bringing in more hardware.
For those of you who are suggesting larger party sizes, this is far from an easy fix. The game was built and tested around a specific group size. I'm not just talking content, but also resources such as memory. To increase a party size would take a rather massive rewrite of the core of the application. In addition, it would make a raid into a 12 man group, meaning that the current ui would have to be altered to allow for this.
Well maybe you shouldn't have rushed to level 50 in the first 2 weeks of release.
You're like these idiots that rush through a game and then complains how short the game is.
Queue time is always going to be 30-40 minutes for dps. If you don't like it then don't play dps. Or queue with a tank or healer.
DPS ques are always bad in mmo's. There will always be more DPS than tanks and healers. By your logic, if ques are going are going up on your server, then they are going down on others. For example, lets say you have a ratio of 90 dps per every 3 healers and 3 tanks. You split that into 3 duty finders you have 30 dps per every tank and healer. It's the same ratio. Perhaps the ques have gone up, but this is in no way a reflection of them splitting the duty finder servers. And if it is, like I said, somewhere the ques have to of gotten better.
umm...so, you didn't say this?
