There will still be speedruns unless you are required to kill 100% of the trash
if the trash agros to everyone, swiftcase raise someone with a res
if there are specific mobs to kill, you will skip everything but those mobs
if there are controllers you are required to activate you will sac pull all the trash to activate the controllers

Really they just need to make the trash drops DECENT crafting mats or gil or something to make them worth killing, or remove 90% of the trash.

This is true. I hope it's however a feature that can be turned off at will. Currently even during the day at peak hours I can log into Balmung and only get a short queue, takes maybe 10-15 seconds after entering to get in the game so honestly it's not a concern anymore. But I'd sort of like to stay online without having to return every half hour. Not that I don't welcome it, I've had some friends who were playing for awhile and then fell asleep at the keyboard. I've done it too. However it feels as if this option came a little too late now. Oh well, if it's not something you can toggle maybe they'll make it so in the future. I can't speak for other servers to know for certain if people still have troubles logging in.

Had two replies, had to separate thanks to the stupid forum limitations.

FFXI had a feature that involved a countdown timer that automatically sent you back to your home point once it ran out. I often wonder why they didn't implement that in version 1.0 or even now.

I agree with this. There will be speed runs, of course. I just am referring to the general lack of interesting mechanics for trash mobs. Supposedly Binding Coil has little trash, why can't we have more level 50 dungeons like that? It makes perfect sense. I mean Spiritbonding is still a thing I guess, but nobody is going to want to make spiritbonding parties for dungeons. They want to be in and out as fast as possible.

I've had only two queues in the last week or so on Sargantanas.... there isn't much need to implement an AFK timer on all servers anymore

I agree with this, if Potash dropped from trash monsters (I know you can get with the tomestones, but that's lame as all hell), I'd practically live there, and I'm sure some people would eat it up if Pudding Flesh dropped, then there are all the rare crafting materials I'm unaware of. Crystal/Clusters would be great drops as well, actually...

That said, I'm more than happy going "This entire dungeon, bosses included, are pretty much trash, so I'll just Spiritbind for some Materia while I'm here". At worst the bosses become slightly more difficult I suppose, if that's too bad then you can always just equip your real set for them alone. You know something, that also solves the whole "Repairing my gear costs to much" dilemma... I could care less about repairing my AK/WP gear set, because it'll be converted to Materia regardless, Spiritbond + gear will be the only thing I need to repair...

I don't know if the trash is now a 100% requirement but...

With one hand S.E. Solves the cost of repairs,
With another counters this reduction by having to fight trash which increases the speed at which Armour deteriorates.

Near enough cancels the other out, but with the lower cost slightly outweighing the trash.

    Still welcomed though.

Largely the fact that autorunning is not actually counted as the player performing an action. You submitted the last command (to autorun) 30 minutes ago and have been idle since -> you get logged out.

To avoid the idle timer you have to be not idle, i.e. sending actions by pressing buttons, moving the mouse etc. You can of course tape down your keyboard's forward key or something like that, but if Square really wanted to, they would be well within their rights to treat this as botting (sinc you are "playing the game" while not being present at the keyboard). And that's a severe violation of the EULA/ToS that can warrant a temporary or permanent account ban.

    other solutions:
-have some mob stay where they were sacked.
-when they are sack they go in boss room.
-keep 1point of enmity after player death
    - give some monster enhanced mvt speed, special AI that don't make them stop to try cast a special move that will be out run....

Did they do anything about the rmt shout spamming? Because I was honestly hoping they would add something to either solve this or make this more bearable.
