Just because I'm on a non-legacy server in full dark light and have my relic weapon already doesn't mean I've not read every quest dialog and watched every cut scene along the way. I figure Bahamat and soon to be Crystal Tower are there to keep people busy who like that kind of thing. If it adds depth/story I'll wander in there eventually but I'm in no rush.

I got all my crafts to 15... Alchemy to 50... Botany to 48 (zzzzzz). I'm a multi-tasker though. As I botany I'll queue on my 15 PGL (who is now 20). Then I switch to my 15 Archer and continue Botany-ing. Then get on my SMN and help friends with Caestrum or Garuda HM etc.

Just because I'm not level 35 and that's my highest class doesn't mean I haven't stopped to watch the sun rise in Costa del Sol or intentionally stopped to fish during heat lightning storms in Eastern LL just to watch the lightning flash across the water and hear the rolling thunder surround me in my headphones.

I wish there were more efficient means to level other than FATEs when you've run out of quests for my other jobs. The last thing I feel like doing is chasing down ambulances, but I will while queued for a dungeon once my mining/fishing/botany get capped XD

I am lvl 47 myself, am I rushing the game, yes, but only for one goal, I want my MTek Mount and that I love to explore in general so the higher level, the safer I can travel the world without getting 1 hit but that doesn't mean I haven't randomly stopped in my questing/grinding even if it was a bad idea for the zone I am in and just either go exploring or sit there and look at amazing sites. Last night, I was in Mor Dhona, I have this case of I want to figure out where Carteneau is, or rather where the access to it will be if/when it ever gets implemented and found a cliff ledge during my exploration and just stood there and looked out toward this massive crystal in the background at an angle where the night sky was also present enough, I fell asleep last night at that very spot and woke back up to it this morning =D it's stuff like that that I live for in MMO's, seeking out secrets and finding access to what could lead to possible locations and finding other cool sights in those hunts

Your first mistake was reading these forums. This is where the "trophies for everyone" generation comes to whine about what they want because they know SE will give it to them now. Look at their latest incoming updates. Instead of telling content gluttons to ease up while they try to balance new and established economies - repair costs cut across the board. Here's your pacifier. Can't be arsed to make seven friends and help or wait for them to run dungeons with you? Here comes your iLvl caps so you can instantly wait in queue with people as equally unsociable, but cut from the same cloth as defined by your placebo number for greatness.

Plenty of folks enjoy the journey, they just don't come to General Discussion to talk about it.

Who really wants a game they can play for a year and beat the end game content? I want a game that I can play for years, curse, scream, and bash my keyboard over because there are still things I want. A game where you party to reach a goal with a CHANCE at great rewards and have fun whether you get it or not.
First of Yoshi himself said game started at 50. Thats the first problem and the Biggest. 2 Game is made for Casuals. As shitty as it sounds the hardcore are gonna blow through the normal content with ease.

Unfortunately WoW and the clones have turned the MMORPG genre into a genre for the sissified. So many players now want speed leveling and instant gratification for every trivial action. Most of these players would die of ADD if they had to deal with the older MMORPGs where getting to cap before xpacs literally took months or where content was challenging and you had to earn rewards and actually had a sense of accomplishment for doing things.

There isn't much that can be done with the current design trends. For whatever reason, even though there was never anything wrong with MMORPGs, designers decided to turn everything into solo idiot mode for "broader appeal". This has worked out great seeing as how every MMORPG since WoW is considered a failure (they're almost all F2P now and couldn't stay sub-based or retain players)...while the classics like EQ, DAoC, FFXI are still sub-based and have been successful their entire existences.

Not surprising. Glorified single player games aren't worth a sub. Group-based MMORPGs with classic MMORPG gameplay, which haven't been made since before WoW, are worth a sub. WoW falls somewhere in between and hit the scene as internet gaming exploded and when MMORPGs were becoming more known and scored in a way (for players and subs) that will likely never be repeated.

There's no way any designer can ever produce solo content to keep people busy indefinitely. The TESO and EQN devs think they can. SOE knows better and is starting off F2P since they know they are making fail - why even attempt a sub - no single player/solo game is worth a sub. The TESO people are smoking crack charging a premium box and monthly sub for a soloist-oriented not so MMORPG - but their die hard fans will cough up the dough and make them look good - they'll make a lot of money off of a crappy game.

Fate grinding is the epitome of the current gen of MMORPG scrubs. Tons of xp and loot for doing absolutely nothing. It's like zombie apocalypse where 50 player zombies camp on a town, waiting for that next living human (fate) to pop, then they all swarm on it to feed on the xp and loot handout. As soon as it ends, they shamble back to the town to drool and stare off into space til the next meal arrives moments later. This is quality gameplay. This is worth paying a sub for! Make sure mommy leaves the bib on so you don't mess yourself.

Besides the fact that it's boring, not challenging, stupidly easy, and no accomplishment at all to level in this game, it's also bad design. This is one reason why all the WoW clones fail. When your leveling curve lasts days - when players obliterate content that took you years and millions of dollars to develop - your development is horrifically inefficient and your players are that much closer to being done with your game.

When players are banging on endgame in the first week of release, you better have a ton of content ready to roll out. Even those "causals" won't be far behind.

I could be 50 but I'm in no rush. I enjoy leveling now matter how lame they make it. The instances are fun and I do them all multiple times since it's fun. Anybody can plow thru the story, barely touch instances, and mindlessly grind fates but I don't consider that a good use of my time or money (I *DID* pay for this, eh). I see no point in rushing to a limited endgame, nor to rush the endgame grind. Endgame isn't just where the "real game" so lamely begins (it should begin at level 1), it's where the real grind begins. Lotsa cool content but also lots of tedious grind.

Other than gil concerns, which they're fixing in this patch, I've loved the game so far in every aspect. I think you're reading too much into things here.

I rush to level cap as quick as I can in any mmo I play because for me that's part of the fun. In most cases if I enjoy the game then I will end up leveling a few more characters to max (9 in swtor, working towards 9 in lotro) and I will take a bit slower to make sure I see everything. There will always be people that level up to max in a few days and get through all the available content. There will always be those that takes months or years to do the same thing. I tend to only worry about what I'm doing and whether I'm enjoying it and spending less time worrying about others and what their play style is.

If you have fun running dungeon after dungeon to level up then that's great. If you decide to take 6 months to get yourself to 50 then that's fine too. You're paying your sub fee (eventually), play the game at your own pace.

People should really stop wondering about what others are doing and worry about themselves. Who cares if people rush to endgame? That's their choice and who said that they're unhappy with it? They bought the game, they can play how ever they want and it has a subscription fee? They'll be damned if any one tries to tell them how they should level and play when they're paying out of their pocket and the same goes for me. Stop with the ridiculous generalizing.

Different people enjoy different aspects of games. That's all there ever was, is, and ever will be to it. All the bs about people being lazy and entitled is exactly that: bs.

Quite frankly, I find it a bit asinine to put people down because they aren't "enjoying" the game in some arbitrary fashion determined by another player. If the game was intended to be enjoyed in such a very specific manner, then it's a failure of the game's design and not the gamer. Within the confines of it's design (i.e. not using glitches or any of that), if, for example, an "8 hour" game provides the player the means to beat it within 1 hour, it doesn't matter what your intentions are. There were never roadblocks or any other sort of notification trying to convince the player this "this is how it's intended to be played" so how on earth can the player be wrong?
