There is no trip in this game at all anymore, only a short yet rather annoying hurdle between you and level 50, and I say that after having leveled ACN (SMN) to 50 almost in no time at all imo (3 days, during school time).

A long, enjoyable and memorable journey is not a part of the generi-- er, "standard" MMO. This is yet another genius (read: pointless) change introduced by the all relieving perfection that is 2.0, which, thank Yoshi, is here to right all of 1.0's wrongs (which had already been mostly fixed before they foobar'd the game).

I so wish they'll eventually come to their senses and change this gradually as they move on...

Does it do this for reals? I'm going to have to try that out when the servers come back up.

I disagree. Mostly because almost everything before endgame is pointless, especially without any vanity system. Since gear gets replaced pretty fast, no point in wanting to hold onto it, as you will convert it by end game. They story is fun, but ends at endgame with credits playing, even with a hint of more to come. Do you run lower dungeons with a 50? Doubtful, as you can't get different class gear except with greed.

Maybe i'm just getting older with a life where i have other things to do, but i don't want it to take months or years just to hit the start of where i want to be. I don't mind it taking that long to get it "all", but to have it like games of old? Not a freaking chance.

I hated FFXI with a passion once i realized good luck getting a group being certain classes and said "screw this" and never looked back (this was many, many years ago, seven or eight). That didn't show any sort of skill or difficulty, it was just forced grouping for something. The AF armor here is fine the way it is as it's more story driven armor, and job look. I'm just reminded of the people in WoW who called the PvP gear "welfare epics", since they didn't come from raids. Like just because it is different now it's not as "special". They think people looked up to them for having it, when in fact most didn't even notice.

That's cool, i was more thinking about people who would just do the lower dungeons for fun, not to help or run with friends, just to run them. Especially as a non-tank or healer, seems rare.

I enjoy the journey to level 50 alot. I just love it to level up different classes, wandering around the world, raising random people here and there, read the story and different quests and just enjoy interacting with people alltogether. That said I was never much of an endgame person as I don't enjoy it as much as leveling. Haven't even really touched my 1.0 level 50 classes yet. D:

At present, I only have one class in the high 30s (38 MNK). I managed to eventually be led into Coerthas by means of quest chains - and was immediately stunned at how awesome the place looked. It was as if I had walked into an alternate form of Xarcabard and Castle Zvahl - and not only the field music of Coerthas, but Camp Dragonbone as well. I'm enjoying things so far, but my only gripe atm is how many roadblocks I've managed to hit in regards to story (not to mention that I haven't even broken the Level 40 milestone yet - and this is only one class mind you).

I refuse to FATE grind unless I have no other choice, and even then I refuse to just spam it until I hit cap (I like dungeons, so I prefer to do them on the way - Primals as well). I also cannot see why some "children" here are trying to recreate the ancient ways of Ensidianism (Ensidia being the infamous guild of WoW - and one of the many reasons I hated that particular game).

    Seriously, stop rushing.

You are going to have to FATE grind at some point in the 40s, there's really no avoiding it unless you want to bore yourself in a far worse manner. Not necessarily to cap or anything but you are going to run out of new dungeons and out of quests, pretty quickly once you've reached the Coerthas branch of the story and beyond (especially beyond). I'm not much of a fan of FATE grinding either but its the lesser of two evils at the end of the day.

been playing since open beta on this character at least I"VE CRAFTED EVERY SINGLE DAY LOLOLOL also helps im in a crafting LS. Trust me taking my sweet time here love the scenery, music, quest lines, Fates, weather effects, enjoying the chocobo music as i ride from mining node or tree to tree, the voice acting or lack there of at some parts can't win em all hah.

Crafting as I lv being able to craft every single item they would normall give as a reward and a * version at that so i can pick money every time. Like sometimes i'll log on ready to mine only to realize ive out lvd my gear. So I start making gear then realize I'm out of mats, or that this class to make this gear piece for this other class has outdated gear, so I make it gear 2 HOURS LATER and i'm crafting ingots and forgot what i was doing LOL isnt it glorious.

So no rush to 50 im content to get there when i get there of course i might hurry my conj a little more to WHM to get my unicorn mount just saying freaking sweet.

I'm barely past 36 right now, but I spend time in possibly my favourite area in the game. That being the floating city of nym.

The soothing soundtrack, and the pieces of land just floating there. I just kinda wander there sometimes, kill some enemies, and sit for a bit taking in the site. I really hope they do a dungeon for that place, it would be so cool to travel across the floating islands, and see the city of nym bit by bit.

The rain adds to it to.
