I went on a slightly irrelevant rant, sorry. I find being a second tank boring as hell. There's no reason for the attitude that because they have a higher base hp means they get to enjoy the game more. There is no reason we can't alternate. If I die because I have less hp, so what? That's why there's two tanks.

Honestly you are all to blame for that just as much, that guy is just the product of the constant bitching and whining of the DPS who expect every tank to be god mode and know every speed run route, i feel like doing that to most players i group with but fortunatley for those people i have a bit more constraint

See the little search bar? If you type someone's name in, the server they play incomes up...fancy that!
People aren't so anonymous anymore, you can provide the Name and Server (Probably even Race/Gender if you're having difficulty identifying them).

The rest I leave to you.

(Sorry to hear you had that happen to you, i've had a few similar encounters and I just /shrug'd and moved on)

You can avoid the limit, by clicking "Edit" at the bottom after posting, then the limit goes away.
This way you can type as much as you want, like i'm doing right now.

    Words, words, words.

    WAY over the character limit.

    WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY OVER.

Just because some people act like jerks, doesn't mean that the individual who weathered through those jerks should give the same treatment to other strangers. As, if everyone thought that way, then the game would end up overrun with jerks creating more jerks, since no one would hold themselves accountable and responsible for their own behavior and pass the blame onto others.

It's not appropriate behavior, regardless. Luckily I haven't had to deal with it as a healer, but the moment I do I'll be blacklisting the person.

Eurgh... No. If the queue constraint were healers on the DF these type would to this stuff as healers, too. I love being a tank and having the chance to tutor less experienced players. Means that everyone gets a little bit better and QoL improves across the board.

I'm really on the fence about having a kick option for the duty finder. On the one hand, you wouldn't be at the mercy of jerks like this. As soon as he tried to play this 'game', you could all mass-vote kick him and get a new tank in ASAP. On the other hand, it opens up a whole new can of worms... linkshell groups mass-kicking someone because they have the same job as someone in the LS who needs the weapon, or people kicking someone because they disagree about a strategy... or kicking someone over some stupid opinion about gear... blah, blah, blah. It's a hard problem to solve.

Also -- just because one jerk did this doesn't mean the majority of players are jerks. For every jerk I've seen, I've played with a bunch more that were nice. As far as this being something coming over from WoW... I don't necessarily agree with that. Back when you couldn't cross-server group or use the dungeon finder, people were forced to be nice because you had a reputation. When they introduced dungeon finder, some people stopped caring because they were just from some random servers. The worst things I have heard have been in dungeon finder. The same is true of duty finder in FFXIV -- except you can't even see the person's world. You'd have to look them up and hope their name was unique. So, of course people are taking the opportunity to be jerks. There's no consequences. In FFXI, if you did something bad, everyone on the server heard about it and you were socially blacklisted within days. If you ninja'd an item, good luck finding any endgame LS who would trust you again. Your reputation followed you and it kept your behavior in check. So, I'm not saying MORE jerky players exist, but just that they have more opportunity to be jerks without any repercussions.

I keep seeing stories like this one... Why are there so many jerks in this game? I mean, yeah I know its the internet, but still.
People who leave dungeons before 1 mob is even pulled because there is a SMN in the group
People who pull crap like the OP just said
I joined Ifrit today and before we were even done loading in a MNK troll pulled Ifrit to kill us all for no reason
People leaving dungeons because its someones first time. The game has barely been out two weeks...

I don't know why people think this is acceptable behavior but its not. I can only hope the people like this leave once subs kick in, or realize no one likes that crap attitude.
The only good thing that came of things like this is I appreciate how awesome my Free Company is. Running with them is far more enjoyable.

Yep, we sure do have our fair share of scumbag, elitist, bottom-feeding players. They just love grieving folks. Their real lives must be both immensely successful and deeply profound, full of love and hope, I'm sure.
