Auto deleting blocked people's messages from chat the chat box...

In addition to easier blocking and reporting of spammers, I would like to see anything they previously sent deleted from the chat box.

I've seen this capable in other games. When you log on or enter a new area and 3 or 4 bots are spamming 10+ lines of text within 15 second intervals, by the time I get them all blocked I have a HUGE scroll list of offending text. It also makes it difficult to see what may have been missed that I do actually want to read.

Square Enix you need to do something about these spammers, gil/gold sellers and you need to do it now. They are making your game frustrating to play. A game is meant to be fun. Gil sellers influencing the game's economy as well as the non stop walls of advertisement in chat is unforgivable. BAN THE GIL SELLERS. And we haven't even begun to deal with the hacked accounts to steal Gil that will soon be happening. Stop this before it becomes a serious problem for both your customers and your CS team. Gil sellers are causing you to lose money. Give the community the tools we need to report swiftly, and have a team wearing "I will BAN you" hats ready and waiting.

    BAN THE GIL SELLERS NOW

There has to be a spam limit imposed. What these gold sellers do is create just enough text so that it makes it impossible to *scroll* back up to even see them. It's ridiculous. Aion fixed this by limited chat to certain char levels so levels 1 can't bombard chat.

There appears to be no way top turn off a given channel. I don't want to always see all channels.

Having to manually type some guy's long odd name into blacklist is cumbersome and utterly worthless. All they do is create more char and start over.

You can easily turn shout and yell off in the chat settings, which is what I have been forced to do cause of all the spam. But this sucks, cause that way I wont read shout or yell chats. But rather have that, than the endless gil selling spam. Once in a while they find their way in to my tells as well. Something has to be done about them soon. Or they will grow stronger and ruin the game for the players.

Indeed, yesterday it was crazy on Ragnarok in main cities. I observed several /sh spams per second, and it lasted for hours. This means that I had to turn off /sh, it was totally impossible to use, which is too bad since it's a good way to communicate somewhat globally (LS/FC invites, asking/helping other players, finding groups, etc.) If this goes on, SE might as well remove the /sh chat.

Hint: to blacklist the last person who /t you, just type "/blist add <r>".

    <bump> for freshness and importance

I didn't hear they were asking players to call the help desk to report gold spammers. To me that is insane.

There needs to be an automated way to correlate people's blists with spammers (as with the WoW tool). That way, "x" number people report the spamming and <boom> character deleted.

I would really like to see them banning folks that utilize their gil and leveling services as well. These players are part of the problem as well giving the gil sellers incentive.

Yeah. It's honestly a little ridiculous because they're afraid of the repercussions of giving us a right-click report feature.

As there have also been requests for an "Add to blacklist" option when selecting someone's name from the chat log, we would like to look into addressing this as well; however, this opens up the possibility of accidentally blacklisting people by misclicking etc., so we'd like to take the time to look into this carefully.

In the mean time, we would appreciate it greatly if you could report these violators through the in-game Support Desk feature where they will be handled as soon as possible, as Senior Game Master Jhanaka has mentioned below:

We are glad you are having fun playing FINAL FANTASY and we are sorry that the Real Money Trading shouts have already begun.

If you should see any of these types of shouters, you are free to place a GM Call through the System Menu. As we do not have an option to directly report these spammers to us, we ask you choose the "Harassment" option in the Support Desk menu.

We ask that you include the name of the shouter along with a sample of what they had said. The GM staff will then receive your call and address the spamming; we will be sending you a message instead of offering a live contact to ensure your game play is not interrupted.

We are looking into methods to directly report them to us without using the Support Desk system, but we ask for you to bear with us until we get the tools developed. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and we will continue to work with you to stop this type of violation as quickly as possible.

We will go ahead and leave this thread open as we look forward to hearing more ideas on how to combat this issue. Please note, though, if any posts violate our Term of Service, the post may be removed and action may need to be taken; please keep the replies constructive.

Thank you, again, for your continued support. Good luck and have a fun time!

Not gonna read the 5 paging but I'm pretty sure I'll be able to resume it in 2 lines :

    - Chat in cities is unsable due to /shout gold ads spam. Solutions are easy (limit the number of /shout /yell messages in a timeframe + give people the ability to block the bots in a very quick way)
    - WHy the hell is this taking so long ? I don't want to hear the "oh but we've got to make this feature cross platform so it's not easy". BS, the code is the same, just the way you get to the routine is different, that in itself should not delay the feature availability.

This is very annoying and gets on my nerves right now. Spending 20 seconds to add someone to a block list is not what I call dealing with a good UI.

Why don't we approach this from a Lore acceptable perspective.

    Tonberry walks closer

I certainly agree with the OP. /shout chat is so overwhelmed here in Gilgamesh, it's probably around 100 spam posts a minute. I can't see anything in the chat at all, so currently I've had to disable just to hear what people are saying in /say.
