On Lamia all starter cities are plagued by spam. It's not even random ads that pop up once every couple of minutes, but spammed website addresses and whatnot.

As a reminder, the report option as per my suggestion would silence the spammer's text while also sending a report to the proper people. The reason I'm not for it filling up the blacklist is because it's easy to make a name with random letters, BList them only for them to delete the character, make another one with different random letters and continue.

Thank you all for your support so far. Let's hope the devs see this and do what's needed to make this happen.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Please put this into play, it is a pain in the butt to report them right now and to even blacklist them!

There is an easy way to blocklist them.

If a gil seller sent you a send tell message just type: /blist add <r>
This adds the sender of the last send tell to your blacklist

If there is a chatbox spam:
right clik on his name, send tell, delete send tell and add /blist add before his name

but i aggree with you, there need to be a right click option to report and blacklist gil spammers.

I agree with the OP, and I too did the same thing when the Gold Spammers started in earnest. I right clicked expected a "report" feature.

At the moment, I view the Gold Spammers as a kind of harassment. Does SE not care that these leaches are more than just a nuisance? Honestly it takes me several minutes in each busy area adding these people to my blist. I can't even log in without receiving a tell before I can even see my controls. That's how bad the bots are.

If I were SE, I would invest in some GM's who could roam the servers at odd hours (don't want the spammers just to see you on during business hours and avoid you). These GMs would have the ability to full account ban, maybe even IP ban. Sooner or later the $50-60 a pop fees will bite them in the butt. Also how about banning users that receive odd amounts of gil just showing up in their account? I don't mean transferring gil from one of your characters to another. Attacking this problem at a dealer and buyer level would probably be the best bet.

I am not saying that there shouldn't be a automated feature to the game as well. Chat spam detection could be implemented. I am just saying having a human GM in the mean time would probably show some good faith to the players that SE views this as an issue to.

I remember back in Aion when they announced the ban hammer dropping on players in game, in real time. Not suggesting this, since SE is a Japanese company and they have that whole individual shame is a bad thing going on.

I'm confident we will get a right click report function. There is probably a lot more that needs to be tested than we know. Not really sure why it was not there from the beginning, I guess just an oversight since it didn't happen in beta.

They already announced they have their "special task force" so they are aware and do care, they just need to make sure they follow up with an easier way to report and blacklist/ignore.

To give you an idea of how this worked, gold sellers in WoW would spam general chat much like here. The devs implemented a function through the chatbox where if you right-click on a person's name you have the option to report them for spam and blacklist them. Reporting someone for spamming caused their text to no longer show up for you for a predetermined amount of time, and Blizzard tended to react to how many spam reports the person received, among other things.

This in effect killed two birds with one stone simply because you were no longer seeing the spammer's text while also notifying the proper people about the person spamming; the moment we would see a gold spammer pop up I'd right-click on their name, click on Report for Spamming and continue about my day. You guys might want to consider implementing something similar, if only to make general chat more bearable.
Yes, this is exactly how I'd like to see this work. World of Warcraft really nailed it. Both a report and blacklist in one via a right-click on their name in chat.

Right now, the most convenient option we have is to blacklist via the social lists menu, or a text command. The devs have asked us to report people through the help desk, but that gets old really fast, especially since blacklisting can't be done in a snap and you're already annoyed by the situation. Even the most prudent of players will eventually stop reporting and just blacklist the RMT spammers. The only way to get them all properly reported is for SE to give us a two-in-one function.

I support this thread. I also would like to appeal to the decision makers at SE. You have been given yet another chance to launch this game right, and Gil sellers if left unchecked will wreck the in game economy, as well as annoy the hell out of your customers. Please take not only punitive measures against offenders, but also pre emotive measures to prevent Gil sellers acces to the game to begin with. Also please deal with the various mining bots I have been seeing lately, these mining bots have already impacted the price of ore at auction, I imagine other crafts are also being affected.

At least add a right click blist, takes so long to blist the RMT's and sometimes I have difficulty spelling their names correctly for blist.

Bump for further discussion. Starter cities have gotten worse than before. It's not even spam now but infinite scrolling ads...
