You could try Leviathan and join The Abyssal Pirates. I don't know how else to describe ourselves other than one big family. We certainly don't rush anything either. We chat a lot, goof around, and just enjoy the game. Hell, for a majority of Day 1 of the MoonFaire festival, we all got swimsuits, head to Bronze Lake, and played in-game truth or dare for fun! XD

Sure, we have some level 50's doing content and we do intend on doing endgame, but we're mainly focused on just having fun as a big group of friends.

It's not WoW either wonderboy so get off your horse. The OP's point was that they have not experienced the same sense of community and immersion that they had in FFXI. Instead many are opting to take the "short bus" approach introduced by WoW to reach the level cap and then mindlessly spam the same dungeons over and over in the pursuit of that "leet" set of gear(s). I agree with the OP and pretty much everyone except you who posted on this thread so far.

It's too bad none of you like minded people are on Diabolos. I play with a group of people that all played FFXI together for years, and we waited a bit to even start our FC. We haven't done any real recruiting yet, so our problem is numbers, but we also want to develop a community and NOT be one of the omgwtfbbq rush to teh gearz! groups.

I feel like you people are doing this in the reverse order. You expect first to get in a shell, and then make friends, rather than make friends, and then get in their shell. I can't avoid feeling like you don't know how friendships work, those big friendly shells aren'd made by people who are hunting down a shell to talk and stuff- They're made by friends, who invite other friends, who invite other friends (even if they are bads, that you want to punch in the face until they learn to count to three).

So I suggest just, y'know, try to make a couple of friends, start it up yourself or join theirs, get one of their friends.

I think generalizing everyone in the thread is a terrible way to get your point across and it seems like you are trying to troll.

I think the underlying issue is that the only way to *meet* potential friends in this game is dungeons and FATE grinding party. All other content is solo. I notice most of the people above said they try to avoid FATE grinding and dungeon spamming, so--I think the issue is a little more than just being anti-social.

Well, deeply sorry for that. I'm not very versed in the english language, being native to portuguese, and I didn't know any better term in order to refer to those having this problem. If you could perhaps enlighten me on a better term i'd be happy.

Ah, I cannot say. I personally enjoy the battle content, specially amongst friends, as well as (when it isn't being a place worse than the dark recesses of the GD forums) shout chat. I've met quite a few nice people in that chat, ain't hard to do that even with all the shouts for parties. I personally believe that solo content is better for making friendships as you worry yourself way less about wether those with you are doing their job well and more about interacting with those around you. Shout chat ain't all that bad (even if I am myself anti-social and retreat to FC/Shell chat most of the time)

That's why I felt lucky to join a small-medium size FC on Leviathan where the focus isn't end game and just to enjoy the game. There're plenty of nice people out there with the same mindset as you. You just gotta find the right one.
