Gear level, the final nail in the games coffin.

I'm curious how the gear requirement will work. Will every piece of equipment need to be x level or the average of all the pieces?

When you make an equipment set, the level of the set is determined by weapon level.

Gearscore ussually measures the average gear lvl, it ussually doesnt check if its class appropriate which is why its so easy to fool it. Carry-on-Luggage players have Always abused that loophole by slapping on some random pieces just to get past the gearscore requirement.

You can't get by with that in this game considering the gear is locked to classes. How exactly is it going to be easy to fool? What can you possibly equip on the class you are trying to enter content with that is ilvl 70 or above for Titan? You have to go out of your way to fool it in this game when its easy to properly gear yourself to begin with.

Considering I stated how its ussually done and how THIS game doesnt have gearscore.. logics suggests IM talking how its ussually done in other mmos.
You are right I cant Judge endgame gear at this point but I do have the feeling there are some items that are not class specivic.
Regardless, elitists wont take people based on gear with or without gearscore.

I mean, the terrible drops at Ifrit are enough to get anyone upset (I'm at win 67 with no cudgel for my BLM still), but cmon guys.

And that is precisely what Im saying, it isnt an issue. Im not the one who is complaining about this, Im all for it.
If anything, gearscore is just another scapegoat, people do NOT need gearscore to reject people based on gear at all. Thats the bitter truth of the matter that the people who ARE complaining about it chose to ignore.

While I don't care for the epeen centric players that gear score breeds, I understand why it is needed for tiered high end content. Just because you have a high score doesn't mean you are a master at your class, it just means you have a higher chance of being par for the course. The game can't judge if you can carry your weight in an instance. It can judge if your gear is suitable though. That's the true use of gearscore. You need to understand if you want to see endgame, you must prepare for it by getting all your items up to snuff. That isn't being an elitist, it's called strategy. Later on this will be even more apparent in end game. I can be uber ninja on the keyboard, but if my gear is way below what is truly needed to clear the raid, yeah all I am doing is hurting the group.
