No its a static gear floor. If you don't have an average of ilvl 49 or higher you probably won't be able to do Ifrit Hard Mode. The gear level is only a block for undergeared people, not overgeared. My question is, will the gear level requirements be mandatory? It sure sounds like it given the word requirement, but I think that's a stupid idea and hope I'm wrong. Because then what if I get some better gear than my friends, or vice versa? Could we no longer play together until the other one catches up?

And gearscore is rediculas easy to fool.
An elitist like the OP is complaining about would have checked gear manually and wouldnt have taken him either way
You dont like the way I do my job? I dont give a damn what you like, any of you.
If you are still alive and lance slinging a few years down the road,
and lucky enough to watch your family grow as you honor your oath.
Then you'll understand..
But getting old in my guild is a privilege.
We die so innocents dont, its that simple.
Once you pick up the lance, the life you lived stops being your own.
