I would have loved a style system like the one from DCUO, which allows you to save the style of a piece of equipment onto a specific tab as long as you equip it at least once and then be able to change your look at will without having to keep that gear piece ( I actually don't get the point of having to keep it ).

Im ok for "role" restriction tho, it would be stupid to see a a DoW wearing DoM gear and vice versa especially if they are AF.

I love the way DCUO did for vanity slots. <3 It was brilliant.

In an attempt to get away from the whole mess with FATE/dungeon grinding and so on, something ocurred to me.

How do you think the rules for vanity slots should apply to stuff like the heavy armor and flachards? To those who don't play WAR or PLD, some of the gear we get takes up two slots. Heavy armor takes up body and head slots while flachards take up legs and feet. I wouldn't really be worrying about this if heavy armor were anywhere close to appealing. Most of it looks pretty damn bad. Not even getting into the fact that there are no head and neck animations on our characters while wearing heavy armor nor the fact heavy armor ignores the "hide head" settings for character display.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.
    * Design ideas:
Red Mage - COMPLETE (https://tinyurl.com/y6tsbnjh), Chemist - Second Pass (https://tinyurl.com/ssuog88), Thief - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/vdjpkoa), Rune Fencer - First Pass (https://tinyurl.com/y3fomdp2)

Honestly, those are the sets that I want vanity slots for most, and if they can't be vanitized (trademarking that word), I'll be hugely disappointed. The heavy iron/heavy darklight armour sets are just horrendously ugly, and awfully animated. Especially since one of those is pretty much standard endgame equipment for a long time.

I've got the old Onion set from 1.0 and the moogle helm. I can't wait to make them permanent.

In answer to a vanity system. From here http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...IV-Q-A-Summary

Q: In a related question, will higher level race-specific gear be implemented?

A: We don’t have any plans for the start of A Realm Reborn, but we’ll definitely look into adding such gear later on if there’s enough demand.

Also, this may be a bit early to share, but there are plans for a vanity system called “katagami” (dress pattern) that allows you to adjust your appearance. Say your role is a tank, and you like wearing your artifact armor, but prefer the stats on your Darklight gear. In this case, you can change the appearance of the latter to be like the former. I’m not sure yet when this feature will be ready. It’ll depend on our progress.

the problem is the dye system, it's useless
why bother implementing it if we can't dye most unique gears?
a remodel system would be a nice addition too..

just look at GW2, where we can be anything by mix-matching different set of gear piece from several gears with different set of dyes into one brand new armor set
we can see a player with great armor design and say "woah that's awesome"

GOod! How you look in an MMO is very important. Its your character. CUstomizing the look is so important and I am happy they are doing it!

I wonder how it'll work between switching classes? Will every class get its own vanity slot?
