No problem. I'm an accountant so it's what I do. Dulled it down quite a bit so some of the others could understand. I can post many more variables for understanding if need be.

For FATEs, running naked is the best option. Why? Because all your items still incur damage. that lower level gear could be used as hand-me-downs to classes that can wear similar equipment. Unless your a tank, in which non-high 50s gear would actually be better than naked, running naked, save a relatively cheap 48-50 weapon would be ideal to save as much as possible.

For dungeons, unless I'm running a post-game dungeon (AK, WP, Primal HMs...), I tend to wear gear I wore pre-50. I can take out 6 Leves to repair the equipment without cutting into my 79k (currently)

There is nothing to say since my comment towards you pretty much puts your foot in your mouth. rounded variables that put into perspective the problem and makes it hard for rebuttle.

Means you are leveling an alt to solve personal wealth. Either means your main is a legacy character, or your main is broke and your alt is now going to fund your main.

As of right now, crafting will help your gil from running dry. Now you may say that everyone can only earn a limited amount of gil before it runs dry. Well lets now look at what everyone is ignoring or failing to post in this thread, the gil sellers. They are spamming 1-50 quest over and over. Then you get someone that waste their RL money on gil for an advantage and that person buys a lot from the market board. The crafters then benefit from the market board.

Now I don't like how this is with gil sellers. But this current system seems to be designed to take in the account of the inflation that RMTs cause. While it would be nice if a mmorpg could completely prevent RMT and automatically ban anyone who even attempts it, the real story is far from that right now(which is sad but true).

So as of right now, craft if you need gil and hope that poor sap who waste their real money will buy your items on the market board.

sorry but can you explain how any tradecraft can help with this? Sure i can make lots of gil through marketplace but thats just "moving" gil from player A to B while cutting them down by 5%. So tell me how can any DoH or DoL provide something powerfull to run game economy.

Aren't ALL auction houses, market places or whatever else in MMOS moving money from A to B, because you know...you're buying something off someone so naturally your money gets moved to them and you're slightly poorer, they're slightly richer. Some of them also have the percentage fees as well depending.

I understand all the other points with increasing the amount of gil you can earn, but I don't entirely understand the whole market place thing seen as isn't that just what happens when you buy something off someone anyway?

I'm not 50 yet but from what i've seen and experianced i believe these are your issues

    1) you raced to 50 (probably fate grinded) and skipped most of the quests where you make money
    2) you are a combat only class and skipped the money making doh dol classes
    3) the game is a week old so the economy hasnt settled
    4) i believe this is how SE wants the game for a few reasons, prevents botting and prevents a combat class from power leveling the doh classes by buying everything off the market

I'm sure once more players hit 50 and SE gets a better idea of where the 1-50 gil ends up they will make adjustments. Im the mean time go back and do some of the quests you skipped or take up a doh/dol class. Or just keep marching on from what i've heard the gil you make covers your repairs and teleports at 50

I know what you're saying, but I think that people, the OP included, are complaining that the gil fountain isn't in their Inn Room. Endgamers are used to raking in fountain gil from endgame activities. FFXIV isn't set up like that and they are QQing about it. FFXIV has tiny gil fountains all over the game to spread the gil out over all players instead of making the fountain endgame heavy.

So now that endgamers have to actually work to make gil instead of having it handed to them from their endgame activities, they are QQing all over the place and inventing this gil issue. Its fairly humorous to watch actually.

People then look at say, running dungeons that give a miniscule amount of generated gil (very little, random allagan piece boxes that only go to 1-3 people (~700gil per box and has to be NPCed, repair fees at 50 are 5 gil per 1% multiplied by however many pieces are damaged at the NPC) and some of the boxes in the end dungeons give potions which is still 0 generated gil (unless NPCed for a paltry amount), yet the repair fees are usually higher than the gil generated which means every time someone uses a repair NPC, more gil is flushed down the toilet yet a miniscule amount of gil is actually "new" generated gil from doing that activity.

Many people are assuming that the gil sinks and gil generation aren't balanced enough right now, with that assumption the entire gil pool is shrinking by the day. This means eventually prices will start going down due to gil being worth more per unit because there is less going around due to the gil sinks draining it out of the economy and not enough sources that generate gil at a break even or profit pace.

I'm not taking sides here, just trying to explain.

Without doing crafting, or harvesting, or anything other than progressing through the main storyline (and side quests along the way), I am consistently sitting at about 70k, and thats after buying gear every few levels off of the market place and teleporting everywhere (not to mention repair bills for repeated wipes in the storyline instances). Questing provides quite a lot of disposable income.

Obviously harvesting and crafting also provide benefits (crafting will let you repair your gear for a song, so if repair bills are high for you, this would be an ideal situation)

OP and everyone who agrees with him don't understand basic economics. The economy in the game is fine. Making money is super easy if you actually put a tiny bit of effort into it. Money is not being drained out faster than than it's being brought in. SE has the means to see the total amount of gil being fluctuated through each server. If it was a major issue, it would already be addressed. Even if that were the case, there wouldn't be any kind of disastrous effect. It would just change how people play the game. Quit whining about how you're not a millionaire from spamming leves and dungeons. Learn to use the marketplace and get on a land/hand class.
