I came across a dps who's answer to not moving away from damage was "you can just rez me."

    This is a common problem.
They think we have an unlimited supply of MP and can just pick them up instantly.

    The tank is my priority.
I'll let a dps die if I need to if it keeps the tank alive. And I won't just rez anyone unless I know I absolutely have the time to take away from the tank for it.

*edit* I should add, I do heal dps with AOE heals and keep them topped up as needed. But there is no healing stupidity.

    This is the golden rule:

If the tank dies, it's the healer's fault.
If the healer dies, it's the tank's fault.
If the dps dies, it's his own damn fault.

I have been playing MMO's for years always on DPS, even in XI I played dps. Not until FFXIV v1.0 did I start tanking, got my PLD to 50 and learned the in's and out's of the tanking class so now I was able to DPS or tank depending on the needed class for the run. Now that I have leveled my archanist I have started to play the Heal role, and I find it very, very easy to keep my party alive and I am growing quite fond of it . Learning the ropes of any job can be fairly simple, and I think most people that complain and blame others have no idea how that particular role is played, I think the best thing to do in this scenario is to put yourself in the other players shoes and play the role yourself. This will intern give you a better understanding of what you and your other party members need to do to be a functioning unit.

DPS needs to kill the targeted tank mob for easy dispatch while keeping an eye on their aggro meter to ensure they don't pull hate of the tank as much as possible.

Tanks need to focus on all mobs that have been linked in a pull, and make sure they are holding aggro from all of them, occasionally switching targets temporarily from the main focus and ensuring they have all they hate (the targeting system is great for this because you just keep your anchor on the main focus).

Healers need to have their anchor on the tank at all times, and temp switch or AoE heal when needed to keep the DPS topped off while also managing MP as to not burn out and ensure they have enough MP to heal through a heavy assault.

I don't believe anyone should be bashed or blamed for a mishap but instead coached so they can get better at their particular role, though, I do believe by the time you get to job advancing that particular class, you should be able to play your role as if it was second nature. If you are starting a new role, play in lower level dungeons until you learn the ropes and be efficient in the role whatever it may be.

I am only level 22 and a lancer, but it's really not terribly hard. Only real issues I have encountered is how unfriendly most fights are for melee. I'd like better mobility as a lancer, but maybe things change in another 28 levels who knows.

Most tanks I've seen are decent, most healers though it comes and goes. Conj answer this, you don't want to be in cleric stance while healing am I right? That swaps your int and mind and lowers your healing stat for the sake of offense right?

The general theme here seems to be:

If the tank dies the party wipes.
If the healer dies the party wipes.
If the DPS dies just wait for the next available raise... it's this barrier of protection which seems to give a lot of the ones with bad attitudes the "right" to mouth off at the tank and healers because they are able to trivialize their own faults. To the DPS who give us a hard time: we have it tough but you don't have to make it even tougher by verbally abusing us!

unfortunately its not often the healers fault they pull hate. Typically that means someone is taking far too much damage, or the group as a whole. The way to not pull heal aggro is to 1) not overheal, this is on the healer or 2) not heal....this is obviously not a viable choice the majority of the time
Unfortunately a lot of people don't quite grasp this concept, DPS don't move out of red stuff, you heal them, you've just increased your hate by a large margin, happens a few times, now you have agro from adds, tank tries to pull them off you, he's not generating threat on boss, now dps has agro, now you're healing tank yourself + dps increasing your threat more so and draining your mana like a flushed toilet, then people start dying and blame starts being tossed, usually by the people at fault who didn't stop dps to let the tank regain agro.

Also that person/people claiming dps have responsibility equal to the tank or healer, really need to learn some perspective. It's so easy to be a bad Dps and get by because the tank + healer carried you, it will almost never happen the other way around.

    Wtf 1k char limit?

You have to understand, a DPS constantly getting hit is taking time from the healer when said healer could be healing the tank instead.
So yes DPS have a responsibility, NOT to get hit by avoidable attacks.
