    I'm actually really interested in getting into RP, I have seen people doing it but haven't ever tried myself, any tips for newbie RP?

    Like how do I join in.

    You can always join the Final Fantasy XIV Roleplayers: http://finalfantasyxivroleplayers.enjin.com/. I'm not sure how much of the forums are visible to non-members, but there you can find more information - like, who are roleplaying at Odin, what linkshells or free companies you can join and the like. On Wednesdays there are tavern nights (info on forums) where you can try it out, learn more and meet other roleplayers.
