Regarding the Perma-ban of hacked accounts used for RMT

So I just read SE's statement posted on the lodestone this morning, and I was a little bit disturbed by what I read. The full article is here, but ill paste in the relevant snippits.

Period: Aug. 24, 2013 to Sep. 5, 2013
-Accounts receiving disciplinary action for RMT advertisement: 518 Accounts
-Action Details: Permanent ban from FINAL FANTASY XIV

Okay, that's all well and good. I'm glad they're already banning RMT. But wait, what's that?

Among the accounts banned during our investigation, we have confirmed that many of these accounts were hacked. In order to protect your information, we please ask that you protect your Square Enix Account information. We also strongly recommend using the Square Enix Security Token to increase account protection.

Now, I'm not trying to start a thread about "don't be stupid and lose your account information", but am I the only person alarmed by the fact that if you slip up and are unlucky enough to get your account hacked by a gilseller you account is going to be banned permenantly? I've had friends back in XI that have been hacked before by gilsellers. It's enough to have to sit through the interrogation chamber with SE to just get your account back, even after it's probably been stripped of all material value. At least you won't lose all the hours you poured into leveling/quests/story/etc. With this current policy, getting hacked is a guaranteed loss of your account forever.

That does suck, greatly, but I guess it's also a selling incentive for the tokens. Although now that i think about it you can just use the app... so idk yeah that's not cool.

Well, that just makes me that much more glad I got the Collector's Edition with the token. I do find it hard to believe there's no recourse for hacked accounts, though.

The people getting "hacked" are the ones going to the gil sites and getting phished.

Pretty much like Darkm0d said, there is a 99.5% chance that the "hacked" ppl are the ones who went and clicked/loaded the gilseller site or something like that.
Should the "hacked" accounts be banned when found out? well yes but ofc the "real owner" of the account should have a chance of getting it back.

Agree. You can have physical or mobile app token. It should be mandatory though...

This security token has been a thing for what 10 years now? If your not so smart as to use a token to protect your account maybe this perma ban would be a nice lil wake up call. On my server RIGHT now i just BL two bots super spamming there crap in Ul'Duh. This crap is annoying and these NON- token users only add fuel to their fire.... BAN tham all....

You are probably correct for the most part, but not always. I remember back when Aion launched they were putting links in general chat that looked like a legit NCSoft site telling them to go there and get prizes. A lot of people fell for that that were not necessarily trying to cheat the game or buy currency.
