Come on, he obviously understands. I assume he keeps on keeping on just for the fun of it because he had an actual solution he would have said it by now, and many in the game would have been thrilled to learn something new.

He's just endlessly asserting that pigs must be able to fly. Maybe in some world they do. But not in FFXIV.

The others are right, that's a troll. "find ways". How? "find them". Do you have an example? "Ways". Like what? "Stop asking for a hand out".

RMT introduce gil to the server, which then goes to the players selling gear that the gilbuyers want. There's your money. It's sad but true, especially with how many casuals are going to be playing this casual game.

This thread looks better when you add AzureSin to the ignore list.

Here is a real world example of how the game currently works in regards to DoW classes.

It costs $50 in gas to get to your job.
At your job you earn $10 an hour for 8 hours.
It costs $50 in gas to get home.

You just earned $80, but spent $100.

There are no closer or better paying jobs.

The economy is supposed to be between players, not isolated gil minting daily machines. Theres enough gil income from the npcs to the players to cover repairs and necesities. Interact with people, this isnt a single player game!

If you must have a daily, go save the kingdom form the evil sheep and bring their fleece to me and be rewarded handsomely.

Time to step in again since the ignorance is burning my eyes.

For starters, This Is A Game. In case you have not understood this yet, I'll put it in nice big bold letters for you.

    THIS. IS. A. GAME.

A game should not be modeled after real world. Having to put oneself through grinding through tedious trivialities (in this case, nothing but leves for 1-2 weeks along with maybe a small profit from lv 50 DoL jobs if you sell to vendors) just to be able to afford the ability to enjoy yourself for a day or two with activities (activities in this case referring to the core of the game: Dungeons/Raids) is modeled too much like a real world economy. One comes to a game to escape the frustrations of work and the real world. If they have to pretty much do the same thing in the game in order to afford to do the core activities in the game, players will leave to play a game that does not require them to work consistently in order to afford the "fun".

For SE who needs this game to succeed and have already faced major difficulties...having a game modeled too much like the real world will only deter players away. One is not likely to pay per month for a game that pretty much makes them do the same tediousness as they have to irl. Its just bad business. A game is meant to be enjoyable and relaxing, and the gil deficit that the new servers are facing is quite the contrary to that. Hence the broken system that many are complaining about that you keep pushing.

As for your comment on "choices of frivolities"...

I know that when I use the Duty Finder that SE has been pushing towards us so hard, I do not choose to get queued up with newbies, elitists, and idiots that don't listen to descriptions, do whatever they want, and cause my group to fail repeatedly. I have yet to complete Amdapor keep after about 17 runs due to being queued up with people that pull trash, stand in monster AOE, fall off ledges, and don't listen. Did I pick these groups? No, I was given to them by SE's prized DF. Each group said they knew what they were doing and each just simply raised my repair bill more. Last repair bill: 4250 gil.

If the cost of running a dungeon is less than the reward of completion, there is a problem. If completing an instance pays you the amount it costs to run it either in gil or loot, then the issue would not be an issue.
(Before you say how can I say I know what I'm doing in AK when I haven't completed it...I've made sure to read up on the dungeons I go into, watch videos, asked FC members for advice, making sure I knew what I was getting into before I went in.)

There are a finite number of things to do in this game:

Guildleves (500ish per Battle leve/+4 bonus, dunno max on crafting leve, 6 per 12 hours max)
Guildhests (500ish for fast completion and no one messing up or dying)
Dungeons (varies based on Tin/Bronze pieces but usually not more than 400 per person, and an additional bonus if it's someone's first run)
Quests (500 + Allagan Pieces, finite limited in number of quests)
FATE grinding (60-100 gil per fate)
Grinding / Vendoring (1-5 gil per item vendored).

I can't think of any other ways to generate gil in the economy. Can you? I think that list covers it.

To me it looks like the best / fastest way is to do Guildhests, as you aren't capped on them like you are levequests. People seem to have overlooked them, but they are probably the way to go right now if you want to do repairs.

On the other hand grinding out 15 or so guildhests just so you can afford to repair your gear is a LITTLE ridiculous.

They should honestly reduce the price of Grade 5 Dark Matter so leveling crafting professions have more tangible benefits than just a 150gil discount on repairs when your gear is fully broken.

    This would work if...

    Repairs were free
    Teleports were free
    NPC items were free.
    Quests didn't give money.
No money is destroyed or created in any way ever.

Since that's not true, the gold has to come from somewhere. And that somewhere has to be renewable, which quests are not.

I think a lot of people are confusing making gil and gil coming into the economy. Selling stuff of the markets makes you gil, yes. The guy that just purchased your goods though has to have gotten his gil from somewhere. I got about 200k from quests/fates/guildhests/etc on my way to 50, but I realized shortly after that was all finished with. Finite. OP is right; there is a very small amount of gil being fed into the economy compared to the larger amount being taken out (npc repairs, MW tax, etc).
