Got great data centers here in Sweden for Facebook (they were kind enough to enhance the fibers a lot too) ... so place the servers here!![]()
Hello,
We really need a eu datacenter, I have been between 70 and 140-200 ping and it's impossible to have any kind of responsibility/be sure of doing properly in the game.I've been competing and achieving servers firsts in other games, i competed for world firsts, so I think I'm good enough to avoid the red circles or cones, and yet sometimes no matter how far I go, I get hit. With some people we had happen that we were standing in the same spot, we both saw eachother there, we moved at the same time moving from the aoe, ended in the same spot, I died, they didn't.
I also can't play a proper tank or any stun/silence duty, no matter how I memorize the pattern, or try and have lightning reflexes, half the time it just doesn't go off in time, I had situations where the mob had the stun debuff, stopped attacking and moving, and rubberbanded around, or finished the killer cast.
It's not playable for eu players most of the time in end game scenarios if this keeps going
http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...P2P-throttling This sounds more like your problem than the data centre location, same goes for other people in this thread.
I will post, but I know fairly well my isp for a lot of reasons I won't go into detail(too long and doesn't matter here), they are never throttling the p2p since it's one of their main sellers, I will double check with them and post the info, so thanks, but also consider that all my friends and people I know from italy(and some other countries) have the same issue, in different strokes.I'll try and check but I find strange that the only non-eu datacenter game makes me horrible at the game, and all others magically I never have lag issues...what a strange coincidence..http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...P2P-throttling This sounds more like your problem than the data centre location, same goes for other people in this thread.
im not sure if ur serious, number of hops matters, but distance from one hop to the other also matters... What you're saying makes no sense in terms of argument, what you're saying is that if the routing from my PC to the datacenter in EU was much worse than it is from my pc to the datacenters in NA then it would be even worse.
er.. ok? so get a good datacenter in EU dont get a shitty one?
really, not sure if ur trolling or just thinking ur speaking with someone that has no clue about networking.
The ping ranges you posted show you don't have a latency issue to the server location as you are well within the acceptable range for MMO's (i have played many from EU/UK to NA servers including action combat ones). Also the game is programmed that certain skills take effect a split second or 2 after their animation. Most notably healing, you don't get healed at the same time as the animation you get it a little bit after the animation, which is why sometimes people will die even when the healing spell lands because it's not set to register till a small pause after, the same goes with "instant" cast abilities you don't use another instant cast off the GCD ability after it because you have to wait for it's animation to end before using another.
Also not to mention there is a small carry over from FFXI if you stun an ability too late even though it's cast bar is almost completed it will still go off, it's the same for players when they cast spells if they move before the spell is completed it will go off.
No where did i say it didn't matter, my point was that the shorter distance in miles/km is not an automatic magical fix to the problem, if you get sent through enough hops it can make your ping WORSE than having to travel a longer distance with fewer hops.
The data centre being good won't matter its the >ISPs< that will handle the traffic (namely yours and the ones yours have contracts with to handle data that gets sent to their country outside of yours).so get a good datacenter in EU dont get a shitty one?
So in reply to the comment you just said about dont get "shitty ones" i give you back what you just said.

End of the day your isp still has to connect to them, and if your ISP has poor routing protocols or is just plain bad to begin (which mine is unfortunately as one day they decided to block all connections to FFXI for no other reason than "it's a third party") then the performance will still suffer, such as the people in the thread i posted getting p2p throttling on the game. My point of posting is that having an EU data centre isn't a magical fix to everyones problems.
