Heavily nerf portal costs, heavily nerf repair costs, would be a good start

How about letting monsters in dungeons drop gil but not much or droping siver/gold allagans from chests as DukeGr suggested?

Considering players are already crashing the economy by themselves (crafting = loosing money on some servers), we might experience of the problem of gil generation sooner than expected.
Anyone that thinks it is fine, try this :
- put all your gil on your servant and keep 5000 gil for yourself.
- You are not allowed to do quest (only levequest, fate and dungeons)
Try to survive without ever taking gil of your servant for a few days.
If anybody can do that while playing normaly (chaining dungeons, crafting , teleporting etc.. ), than there is no problem with the economy.
So. I guess you buy your crafting materials off the market board. Perhaps you are paying too much just to level as fast as you can? Why cry? You will make back than money in the blink of an eye @50!Considering players are already crashing the economy by themselves (crafting = loosing money on some servers), we might experience of the problem of gil generation sooner than expected.

I also use the Chocobo Porter system and airships/dezones whenever I can. What about you?
You guys are overspending. That's all.
But instead of asking "Hey guys, I'm running out of gil, what am I doing wrong, because obviously you have no problems?", you just cry "Give us moar gilz, YOSHI!"
That's sooo ridiculous.

GIL not Gold.
kthxbye
Right now I have not been able to sell any lvl 16 or 20 gear I have made in the AH... because everyone is selling them so lower then they should like a level 15 pan for cooking is going for 20-50 gil on the AH on my server when it should be higher. That is because of the gil sink... Only money I have made from my gear is selling them to the NPC... I don't make that much as a crafter yet, because of the gil sink. Luckly I get all my materials and not buy any so at least i make some of a profit when I sell them to the npc... 3 gils... One thing they could do it is that at least up the price of the items to npc so we can make some money in this gil sink. lvl 16 armor to npc is like only 16 gil... crafters right now are starving artists!
Also crafting is pretty pointless in the game at the moment, except for mending and maybe some cooking/alchemy recipes.
I had to shorten your post for posting sake but here is my reply to all of it.
While there certainly CAN be more ways to make money (I would be one for bigger gil bonsues for crafting leves) crafting isn't going to be profitable in the short run. Until you start crafting late game items you are going to be a starving artist. There is no way around that bcause to say any different would lead to the opposite problem of too much Gil and prices skyrocketing for simple stuff. What we need is a delicate balance at both ends so that I can't for say become level 15 in a crafting class and just use it to make a quick 2,500 Gil a day or something ridiculous off mats that cost <200 Gil. Increasing the price of selling items back to the vendor or adding better vendor trash would be more amicable solutions in addition to tweaking leves. Leves being one of the few ways SE can control flow of easy XP and Gil.

I'd like to see the bazaar system come back so crafters/gatherers have a way to sell their goods without the AH tax, with the trade-off of having a potentially smaller audience actually being aware of their goods since people may not even realize what they are selling of they don't check.
The way it is right now is perfect...
Almost all gil sinks are voluntary, meaning that you only have to relinquish and eliminate the gil if you think it's worth it.
Second; nearly all additional gil is strictly tied to population growth in the form of quests and guildhests that can only be performed once. Almost all other gil is negligible.
Complaining that at some point in the future repair or teleport costs will be impossible to pay because there won't be enough gil is a ludicrous statement to make... as if such a situation arose, it would undoubtedly be seen far in advance and they can be changed.
The true test of this entire ordeal is going to be the brand new servers. Once everyone hits 50, without new players, there will be a drain on the economy's gil. This makes it easier for new players to get in the game.
