Really? Or it was not 100% work. I don't share my account info to anyone else. No real world friends play online game either. They already do this - I couldn't log into my sister in law's account without it stating "suspicious behavior" and locking the account down till you reset the password through an email link and that would then mean someone has access to your emails as well, so you may want to check your PC..
Otherwise, the only way someone can get into your account without resetting it:
1. They already had access via you letting them on and having them reset it, which ties their IP to your account and prevent lock out. I know this first hand because I do it with my family.
2. They know enough about you to reset your info through SE.
Otherwise, it sounds like either someone you trusted or you got logged, there doesn't appear to be a large breech in SE or we'd hear more about it by now.
I love when people lie, and/or think being in the IT field means anything. You messed up nobody hacked you. I've played EQ from launch and FFXI, WoW, SWTOR, Rift, Tera and more and not once had account issues ever. People lose their account when they give away their account info, or download crap they shouldn't like bots and other cheats. Really wish these companies would start charging people to restore their accounts so they would learn to stop being dumb with their account info and stop cheating. Not sure how i got hacked. I had the same experience from rift. At that time thounsands account got hacked and Rife immediately implemented email check system before anyone can transfer large mount gold in game. I also had norton guard system installed in PC. I don't think your account is safe if you don't use one time password. They hacked me only because I had lots of Gil. With 20 year IT prof experience, I am pretty sure it isn't key logger. my account info got leaked from somewhere else. I like blizzard security system. they will lock your account if someone else try to login far from your home town.
I take it you were on PC? I wonder if there are the same worries over the PS3 version. I would think that PS3 would be a little more secure, no fake login pages, no addons/keyloggers, etc. It just matters if you brows stuff on the net and enter info on a fake page. Learn to spot them. Usually they start with http and not https (all login sites are "secured" with the https) and part way through you will see a "ref=http" where it takes the reference to the layout of the legit webpage. You will see this when hovering over the suspicious link, look at the bottom of your screen where the address appears to see the actual link, not what they might have put in to deceive you. hope this helps.
Hackers dont get your info without you providing it for them one way or another.
Gave me a reason why should I lie and wast time here. Why people are so negative? I speak a truth, and warn others. Are you a hacker?I love when people lie, and/or think being in the IT field means anything.
"Hacked" and "Keylogged" are very different things
99% of these so called "Hackings" are people being foolish about how secure their account really is.
No idea what really happened in your case but I'm still very doubtful it was hacked.
If you don't have a security token thing like we got in the CE version of 1.0 then get one lol I'm sure they sell them or have a phone app.
Who doesn't use an authenticator anyway?
Really? Sounds to me like he was warning his fellow players to activate one-time password if they haven't. Why so uptight? You're missing a lot of information you should supply before needlessly trying to scare people:
1. What are your browsing habits, where did you last visit yesterday? What did you download? Do you block scripts/ads?
2. Did you buy or sell gil?
3. If your account got hacked and you immediately got it back to know you lost all your gil...you don't need to go through to SE.
Now the million dollar question, as with #3, how did you regain access to your account? Normally with a hacking it's impossible to retrieve access yourself and ontop of that unless SE got internally attacked it's impossible for someone to figure out your SE Account ID - there haven't been a flood of topics on either XI/XIV side talking about hacking, so I assume someone you lent your account to robbed you blind.
One of my guildies was hacked as well and had all his gil stolen, it does and is happening. Don't believe it? Who cares, no reason to post here then.
They didn't change the password. You must be new to these thing. This is criminal and they need act fast. They didn't even get time to sell my vendor items. I know it is not bug. I found my char wasn't on the same place I log off. gil became to zero. Many website sell Gil, they may backup by these hackers. How do you know you lost all your gil?
How did you get back into your account?
You didn't get hacked, broski.
Edit : after reading your second post, it's pretty clear this entire thread was made as a thinly veiled - WoW > FF thread. Can't wait until free time runs out and all you kids go back to your childrens games .
I have a question. How did you make 20 million gil in around 50 days back when the game was literally still version 1.0, with a highest battle class of 34 Pugilist max, and a highest craft class of 34 Blacksmith max?
I have a friend who started leveling Goldsmith on Figaro and was either the first or second person in the world to get it to 50, and it took him at least 3 months to make anywhere near that much "while leveling goldsmith only" every single day of those 3 months.
Now it is possible you could have had 20 million gil in 2 months, but due to how hard it was to actually make it without a crafting class, I feel as if your means of obtaining it were less than virtuous...
Sorry for being a doubter and I apologize for being suspicious, but looking over your history, I find it very hard to believe anything but what I stated above.
*On a more serious note*
You realize they reduced everyone's gil to 1/10th the original right? (Having 2 million gil in 2 months I can believe.)
