    FFXIV PS3 EXPERIENCE

    Just curious.

I had a really really lowbenchmark score when playing closed beta & P3. My PC always had enough RAM, and literally the BARE minimum it takes to run the game. When I finally got the opportunity to play P4 & EA on PS3, it was like euphoria. All the bad frame-rates, slow down, and basically all the stuff you'd receive from playing the game on a low qualifying PC, were gone. I was actually able to enjoy the game.

So my question, I suppose, is to both PC & PS3 users. I heard on PS3 that we don't experience as many burst, anti-aliasing and other high quality effects as the Higher end benchmark PC users. We may not see full animations for spells and such, is what I've also heard. Is this true, and to what extent? (if known)

The feeling of playing on PS3 is super comfortable, I don't have to worry about my PC randomly crashing, or overheating or some random Windows System error. Wouldn't you rather play on a PS3, that you can most likely purchase for faily cheap, rather than beefing up a PC? Maybe this is just my logic since I'm not a big PC gamer

    Your thoughts, please..

If they optimize the FATES then playing on the PS3 is not bad at all. I did try the PS3 version in P3 and P4. Besides slower pop ins and slower load times, that version was decent. I will not buy the ps3 version though as I'm awaiting my PS4. I will buy the PS4 version. My brother plays the PS3 version but also will be getting the PS4 version as well.

For the record play on PC (FX8350 & GTX660TI).

Well the PS3 is a closed system so if it works on one PS3 it will work on all of them. I guess it's advantage. In return you have no say in how it looks or the level of detail. Most PC problems come from the fact that no PC is the exact same: not the same hardware, even the operating system might be different. The PCs hardware can differ greatly for very old to top of the line, just out this month. If everyone put their settings down to the very lowest there would likely be no problems. For me errors are very rare and usually are the fault of the user not shutting down their PC or installing something they shouldn't or possible overclocking. When people complain about performance they mean at the settings they decide, usually too high, for their hardware makes it unplayable. The advantage of this is that newer PCs can dial up the settings and make it look even better than the 10 year old PS3 version.

Not sure im really qualified for this thread ( i have a beefy comp with a radeon hd 7870 gfx card) so i can play the game completely on maximum. i do, however, play the game entirely with the xbox gamepad only, with the exeption of typing in chat with the keyboard. If one cannot afford a monster of a pc, i agree that playing on the ps3/ps4 is the way to go. not everyone has 1200 to shell out on a beast computer (top end gfx cards are already 300-500 bux).

You can play in 1080p with a 600 euros laptop. No need to spend that much for FFXIV.

Of course PS3 is the cheaply-cheap cheapest option. If you can avoid it, you should. It's really ugly on a decent TV....

I am assuming I'd need to watch someone with Max setting play on twitchtv, or something. Curious is there are specs at which the PS3 and the PS4 will be set for. I am planning on purchasing a PS4, and obviously I know the graphics will be a lot better. Do you think it will match the Maximum setting bar? Since it's clear there is a limit to how perfect the game can look, I'm hoping the PS4 version will be close or near the maximum look that a high end PC can output.

Well I have a MacBook Pro, so unfortunately, gaming wasn't at the top of my list when I made my computer purchase.
