This game tells you how to defeat the challenge of the dungeon. Most people don't read it, nor will they follow simply instructions such as " Hey don't get near the eye flying around in a circle." It reduces my faith in the mental capabilities of my fellow humans and makes me want to rage.

The Duty Finder allows for a level of trolling and abuse that previously was unheard of in FF MMOs.

Those of us who are FFXI/FFXIV veterans know how strictly self-policing endgame was. You could not get away with the type of abuse that is happening now. You would be named/shamed and banned from all endgame LSs if you persisted in terrible behavior.

I am sad to so see the game go in this direction. A combination of the Duty Finder and refugees from other MMOs have taken this behavior to a new level. A prime reason I played FFXI/FFXIV is for a community of people that strove to be respectful. There of course was drama, but not even close to the extent that I've been seeing lately. It really is sad.

Oh I've lost my faith in humanity a long time ago. The actions of some people only reassure me that I'm correct to have none.

It doesn't make sense to invest yourself in temporary relationships like that.
This probably sums up the core of the problem, what it doesn't explain however is how you will get repeatedly treated like absolute garbage by people you've never met before... it's absolutely mind blowing how hostile people are to each other in duty finder groups.

People saying they've had no issues are either ahead of the curve of new players, extremely lucky, or bad and don't know any better.
I'm taking my time leveling my tank and DF is pretty grim. Every now and then I get a group of people who actually played games before, but the majority of people are terrible- much like every game with matchmaking ever; it's just going to be that way.

I think i only had like 3 DF groups with untollerable people, this one lalafell was stroking his epeen so hard i think he got garuda pregnant... other wise just people that aren't very skilled sometimes pop in can either work around it or fail. the unskilled ones aren't very rude though, they either understand your advice or dont. It's not too bad i like the DF.

There is no excuse to be awful. The popup in the beginning is there for a reason, it tells you how to beat the game! Shadow and Claw is a prime example, you walk around in a circle the entire fight trying to avoid the eye and his purple splash graphic. ALL of those who I had the unfortunate luck of joining had died due to the purple splash. I had spammed chat saying "GET AWAY FROM THE EYE" until that it is all that you could see. What happens? People still died to purple splash damage...

I had mostly positive outcomes from DF. Except this one time our healer quit because she got the boots she wanted....
I met quite a few legacys and they were kind. If anything they were trying to relearn the game again.

duty finder is fun, I haven't had any experience where anyone was anything but nice, and no droolers too! Seeing this thread I think people expect too much out of other players.

Same here with a few others that havent encountered d-bags in the DF. Met a few "unskilled" players, for which they did not know the enmity rotation for tanks (i'm healer btw), but they were quite polite and asked for advice n all. I'd hate to encounter the d-bags though. Trolls will be trolls.
