It leads to bad things, you need to teach people to pay attention at an early level, or at least sometimes in the game(currently we never need to pay attention).
I never read the wholejournal, only last sentence where it shows where the NPC is,
I only did 2 sidequests, because it was unrewarding, i didnt know what the story was because i enter spam, Here is an idea, not everyone likes to read wall-of-text and wants to just get to the rewards part.

I play the game just fine and pay attention where it needed.

If you continue to make things so easy, and hand hold everyone for everything, eventually nothing feels like an accomplishment. You never feel like you earn anything, you never feel like anything was challenging. That's exactly the problem with this game now, and they keep adding features that continue this trend. That's why it's a problem to "let people play how they want". If someone wants to be lazy and not pay attention, it should slow their progress and make them miss things, you shouldn't hold their hand to ENCOURAGE them to do this. That's simply bad design, but it seems to be the current new generation MMO trend. :/

With the way things are, and the things they add, you can kind of see the direction for this game. Very easy, very unchallenging, nothing earned, no accomplishments, everything handed to everyone and everything easy to get. I hope I'm wrong, but I lose more hope everyday.

Quest markers are good to always be there. If you know where to go, go. If you don't know where to go, look. Knowing where to go, or insisting that you find out yourself doesn't make you smart or intelligent at all. I know my way around the world. I still throw the map open to see exactly where the destination is.

That's not smart, or intelligent. It just makes sense to.

I agree it's probably not needed to mark everything. But, I don't think it hurts anything. After completeing 15 rank 30 quests, I actually did like it to show me where to go next. Ya maybe I'm a little lazy, but it was nice to just follow the path instead of wandering around looking for camps.

People like you are ruining MMOs, you only play "for the reward!". The reward should be the journey, the story, the interaction, the fun, not the end. That is why FFXI was good, that is why COP was amazing. You probably have no idea what the story in single player games are, because it's a "wall of text", the best part of single player RPGs is the boss fights and the story, the connection to the characters. This was what we all felt with COP, together, in a group, I bet you didn't read COP either huh? WALL OF TEXT!

^^^This. It's not like looking up zam or any other site make the game more difficult. Just makes it a PITA.

If finding out where to go makes you feel like you're accomplished, I really don't think you're that far ahead of the people who need directions where to go in terms of development.

No one of much skill or talent level gets a sense of accomplishment out of finding where the Amal'ja grunts are for the captor's ring quest series. Sorry. Just put where it is on the map.

If he doesn't want to know the story, that's his right. Quest markers or not he'd find out either way. If we didn't have them the people who just want the reward would look it up online and it would add nothing for them.

I personally enjoy the lore and the story for what it is. I read all the quest text, pay attention to everything. However it doesn't bother me knowing there are people who don't. However they then have no right to complain that the story sucks or there's no lore to anything.

My main question is, why do you care? Let people play how they want to. Quest markers aren't hurting anything, you just need to find something to complain about in this game I guess.

No, I said you should be able to see THE QUEST GIVERS on the map, not as far as we currently can, but should still see them. If people actually read my post, and not just the title, they'd see this. ._.

Man I am seeing so much This message is hidden because Peregrine is on your ignore list. X_X

I already explained how they're hurting things. People get used to not paying attention, it shows later on. It's like raising a kid, if you treat him/her a certain way at a young age, they'll grow up thinking that's right and always be like that.

I dont remember FFXIV being a single player RPGs but ok. Also, no i dont really read CoP, i did it for the Sea access.

Not everyone plays for the same reason as you are, do not shove your idea of fun down to my throat. I play MMO to interact with other players and enjoy helping friends and teamwork in accomplishing stuff, If i want a good story, i am better off reading books. Also, since you like single player RPG so much i'd reccomend you playing Suikoden Series, pretty good story.
