This is why quest markers make the game for 2 year olds

So I'm doing the leatherworker level20 quest, and for one part it tells me "walk to the chocobo stables and back". I'm like ok, sure, easy, I'll autorun there and back, I check the map to make sure I'm going the right direction. As I look at the map, I see white quest markers showing me the PATH to take to walk from the gridania leatherworkers guild, to the chocobo stables. I think "really? it's so complex for someone to figure something THAT simple out that they need to have their handheld for a 3 minute walk to the stables and back?". If you read the quest, which took a whole 3 seconds of NPC speech, you clearly see he says "walk to the chocobo stables and back", I mean cmon, is that too long for you to read?

Seriously, was that needed at all? I see tons of stuff like this when doing quests, the quest markers are NOT NEEDED at all for almost everything. The only time they're needed is to show you "Hey this NPC will give a quest!", and even that could be changed to NPC saying "hey come over here", or should be edited so that the big white quest thing isn't viewable from sooo far away. The quests say EXACTLY what to do and where to go if you read them, which takes a whole 15 seconds. Are people this lazy now? I don't think they are but the game thinks we are for some reason I could understand quest markets to show random NPCs that give quests, but telling you exactly where to go when it's clearly stated in the quest text is just going completely overboard.

Can we please revert or change the quest markers please? This is insanity, we are not 2 year olds, why does the game treat us like we are?

edit: I deleted all the mod edits, I didn't curse or anything kind of weird what they edited out o_o

Needed? Probably not. Hurting anything? Not at all.

    This.

Also journal guides you step by step and point out the NPC for you, so reading journal apparently makes us all a 2 year old.

you know what they should do? remove journal and let people read NPC speech and find out the clue themself and talk to every NPC in town like what we did in classic FF, ISNT THAT FUN? i sure did enjoy that /sarcasm off

It insults my intelligence and teaches people to be lazy, never read, not pay attention, etc. This entire game teaches people to not pay attention, so yes it hurts the game as a whole.

Yea...I think the fact that people are already lazy is the reason they aren't doing something more productive with their time and playing a video game instead. I'm not too worried about quest markers because honestly some of those quests would take forever otherwise, such as the "confessions" quest, unless they reword the quest to tell you exactly who to talk to. I don't care any more honestly, I am actually enjoying the quests and I love running across them by accident and they're such a minute part of the game that it doesn't even matter.

I don't feel like my intelligence has been insulted because honestly, I rarely use the map feature either way. I read the quest text and know what to do. I've never seen this path you're talking about but either way it's only marginally worse than just seeing where to go.

There was recently a side-quest that told you you had to "psych up" in front of certain NPCs. Within days I saw posts here and elsewhere with people confused. Was it the entire community? No. It was a few people who don't read the text. I read it, I completed the quest no problem.

Why are you people defending laziness? lol? At least you have to read the journal, this is just making every quest turn into WOW where you basically never read the quests(I never do) and follow "quest helper" for everything. Fun fun!

Things that encourage people to pay attention and try = good

Things that encourage people to be lazy, never pay attention, afk and basically leech = bad :/

The more things a video game has that encourages laziness, the more it shows in the later levels, and later stages of the game. People get so used to never paying attention they have no idea how to, or aren't used to when they actually need to. It leads to bad things, you need to teach people to pay attention at an early level, or at least sometimes in the game(currently we never need to pay attention).

Why can't you just let people play how they want to play? Some of us like immersion. We read the quests and enjoy the lore and follow the instructions. Some people don't like all that mumbo jumbo and they just want to play the game and run from point A to B without all the fluff.

It's really not your concern how others play. You don't like those types of players? That's fine, but SE likes any kinds of players at this point (obvious by how many bots run rampant! I jib!) so why not just play the way you see fit and not worry how others are playing?

I doubt SE added this feature to insult you personally.

I never read the wholejournal, only last sentence where it shows where the NPC is,
I only did 2 sidequests, because it was unrewarding, i didnt know what the story was because i enter spam, Here is an idea, not everyone likes to read wall-of-text and wants to just get to the rewards part.

I play the game just fine and pay attention where it needed.

People like you are ruining MMOs, you only play "for the reward!". The reward should be the journey, the story, the interaction, the fun, not the end. That is why FFXI was good, that is why COP was amazing. You probably have no idea what the story in single player games are, because it's a "wall of text", the best part of single player RPGs is the boss fights and the story, the connection to the characters. This was what we all felt with COP, together, in a group, I bet you didn't read COP either huh? WALL OF TEXT!
