What is being done about crashes from AMD Video card users?

It's correct that factory OC is not as stable as the manufacturers promise - at least not over time. My GPU was running fine since I bought it but recently started crashing randomly. Clocking the VRAM down a few MHz solves the issue, so I guess it can't take the clocks anymore.

Yeah, its prolly related to this. I was previously running two 7870's in crossfire, overclocked, and would get somewhat random crashes. At first I thought it was just a overheating issue once I realized Afterburner wasn't regulating my 2nd GPU's fan correctly and had temps well over 90. After setting up the 2nd fan in CCC and bringing the temps down, I would still get occasional crashes OC'd (which was running smooth before crossfire). After dropping back the OC, I haven't had any more issues, yet..

well seeing as you're using a 260GTX OC, it is possible for you to have problems with older drivers, Not sure if the latest drivers work for the 200 series.

I actually had to downgrade because newest drivers are a crashfest. Using 306.97 atm and they're stable for me.

How's your heat? I am running above Superclocked settings on my card, granted Nvidia, but I was having full driver crashes until I dusted my rig and improved the air flow. Once heat went down, the 'hard crashes' ended.

We're kinda derailing the thread with my GPU though, so I'd like to end it at that.
My point was that the whole "AMD drivers are crap" applies to nVidia as well lately.

My question is, when I use the mouse to turn while strafing (both mouse buttons held down, moving mouse left and right while pressing a/d to strafe), the graphics like stutter almost. It isn't too bad or anything it just makes the distant images shake a little bit. Do you guys think this is:

1) internet issue/ping/latency
2) mouse sensitivity issue (I use the razor abyssus - it's fairly sensitive from playing SC2)
or 3) GPU/System issues?

I ran the benchmark with a score of 7450 on max full screen 1920x1080, so I don't think it's the latter. Any tips would be appreciated!

I think everybody is getting this... Whenever you are turning the fps tends to drop. Well I noticed that even in the character selection screen when you move your mouse over and off your character's name the back ground animation stutters, lul.

HD 6870 user here. Using 13.8 Beta2 and consistently having the driver crash and recover up to 6 to 7 times per day. It has only caused my game to crash once or twice. This only happens with FFXIV and no other game. There are no problems with my hardware at all. Voltages and temps are all normal.

I also hope this gets fixed because I really don't want to have to revert to 13.4 because the performance boost is nice. I only have to wait between 5 and 15 seconds for the driver to recover. Sure it's annoying but meh what are ya gonna do about it really?

My power supply is not crap. It is a corsair module powersupply. None of the parts in my computer are crap.. However, the corsair psu is 5 years old and only 520 watts running a CPU overclocked. I did the math and I am just within tolerance of being able to run my setup by 20 watts lol.. A new PSU has been on my list for about a year now.

Anyway here is my setup for people saying its crap parts..

A new PSU would definitely help your setup in the long run, but I don't think it's going to solve your problems.

Personally, I would step down your AMD's clock a bit (try 4.3ghz) and see if that helps at all. I had my i7 3770k overclocked to 5.0ghz and always wondered why I was getting a frame drop in the beta of FFXIV, and after stepping it down to 4.0 for a test I saw a big performance increase. I have no idea why it works that way, but it did and it's all I can really think to suggest outside of giving AMD's beta drivers a try.

Soukyuu, have you tried nVidia's latest beta drivers by chance?

I have a GTX 670 and was using the 320.18 and 320.49 WHQL drivers a while ago... turns out their performance in a few games that use heavy PhysX is absolutely atrocious. I switched back to 314.22 and saw no more crashes at all.

I'm currently using Beta 326.41 and it's given me a really nice performance boost as well as stability. =)
