Hoods are part of body piece and would cause all kinds of clipping issues and stuff with hats. That's the official explanation, anyway. I think there was one more reason, but can't remember it right now.

Yoshi-P is doing his best and is patching Endwalker. Please wait warmly until it is ready.
Considering how well the hood clips with shields already, the official explanation is moot (as they often tend to be). They could avoid that easily by simply disabling headgear display when hood is up.
I don't agree. FFXIV's armor design is realistic, that's the charm point of it. It might be not as pleasing to the eye than armors in other MMOs, but at least it offers actual protection unlike the flimsy pieces of cloth stuck at random points of your character body ("armor" revealing the belly area, anyone?)

You mean like the dragoon AF? :PI don't agree. FFXIV's armor design is realistic, that's the charm point of it. I wouldn't care if i couldn't wear a hat with a body piece that has a hood, if i could just put it down at times. It's more a visual thing really, like hiding the head slot, sometimes just looks better.
