It's the internet, people are dicks. Enforcing anything will just make it worse.

Just don't be hurt by it and move on. Enjoy the nice people, it's just like real life, because it's the same people, except they feel safer in saying what they think.

I do support helping someone to get BETTER or tell him/her why he's bad over insults and name calling. This is a personal way of thinking though, most people don't have the patience and quite many of the hardcore (meaning playing all day every day) players are elitists and can't restrain themselved when they see someone who's not up to their standards.

All I would ask is a rating function that can keep players that are harassing others out of the Duty Finder, but this can be misused by those players to kick harmless noobs for being "bad" as well...so meh...

This. At the most we need stuff like "vote to kick" in Duty Finder, which I am surprised was not included with the game when it launched. Yoshida has experienced online games before, so I would never expect him to be in fantasy land like Matsui "please be nice to each other and invite players that aren't geared/optimal despite our conditioning you to take the optimal players/jobs or wallow in failure" Akihiko, and I as such hope they work on something where groups can handle trolls and abusive types by kicking them from their DF groups.

    * The sad thing is that FFXIV turned RDM into a turret, and people think that's what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to combine sword and magic into something more, not spend the bulk of gameplay spamming spells and jump into melee for only 3 GCDs before scurrying back to the back line like good little casters.

Oh yes, I saw this earlier as well.

This right here is the type of crap that you shouldn't just brush off, blacklist and move on. If anything, that person should be reported (which I'm hoping they were) and perm-banned. I don't know why exactly someone would get so extremely irritated over a game just because someone is new to an instance, or because they messed up on something (stunning on plumes apparently). The way this guy acted is BEYOND ridiculous.

I got into a stone vigil tonight. It was one of the worst MMO experiences i've had in years.

The healer was a lvl 50, he said he was from the server Leviathan but I wont post his name. Anyways on the last boss the took off all his gear and wiped us. Then he kept telling us he was going to heal for real and then wipe us again. After the third wipe he decided he was done and wasn't going to heal.

I have a screen shot where he specifically said "I joined this dungeon just to troll"

Really awesome considering my hour long que.

As I said, we need a "vote to kick" feature within Duty Finder.

I don't think it matters how "stable" you are. Last time I checked, this is a game and most people come here to have fun, which just isn't possible with these kinds of people.

I think one of the main problems is this mentality of "just suck it up". If there's no punishment or negative consequence to their actions, why would they even think of stopping? They are accepted, oftentimes even encouraged if they mask their toxicity in sarcasm and snarky remarks. Most of them don't even seem to realize that they're being complete asshats because everyone is just like "Oh, that's the way it goes on the interwebs olololol!".

Maybe we do have to rethink our approach... but we can't stand there and hold a gun to their face at all times. This is a problem of society, not only this game or the internet. I have my doubts that anything can be done. You'd have my support for any measures that can't be misused (reporting for harassment, punishment/ban at x number of reports) too much.

If all of this is true and they are elitists, then why don't they form their own elite parties and leave innocent others out of it? Also this game is for all of us, not a few and if these people continue unreported their behavior will only get worse. I agree with the statement above...they need to be taught that the behavior is inappropriate.

Actually this is what GM jail is for. The one and only time I saw this happen in FFXI a GM came and threw them in jail for 3 days. This is not acceptable regardless of age, gender, nationality or any other excuse someone wants to make. Report them! Do not let them ruin this community like so many other mmos out there.

Anyone who played in FFXI remembers how enjoyable the community was and knew that the GMs reviewed each and every complaint about harassment or situations like whatever this idiot thought he was doing (can't quite think of a name for that level of idiocy). The game is still new but I for one hope that they will follow those same lines as before. It was the best community to be a part of in any of the many MMOs I played. I stopped playing WoW for 3 years because of the awful people in that game along with many others I knew. Thick skin does nothing but lets them get away with acting any way they choose. It teaches them nothing. Report and be done with it.

I agree with this. There are records kept of the chat logs, but GMs can't act unless it's brought to their attention(there's a lot of text) Reporting a player properly will give the GMs what to look for and act accordingly.

Also, make sure what you are reporting is an act against the rules and guidelines.
