Anyone who's actually played Dissidia knows it's considered an aerial combat type of fighter as you stay in the air far too long and have the abilities to do combos while in air for it to be just plain "jumping" when used as a example.

You're right, this is in no way, shape or form ground and aerial combat.

I wasn't disputing this "Dissidia" and whether or not it has aerial combat or some other abberation thereof. I was merely disputing its relevance.

If FFXIV is only permitted to introduce concepts and features that have been used previously in other SE titles, then god help us. LOL.

Seriously, sometimes I wonder who is really the troll around here. At least Im conscious of it.

Thus why Mass Effect 2 and 3 uses zero from the original Mass Effect , oh, and World of Warcraft used absolutely nothing from the Warcraft universe. It's not like Devil May Cry 4 used any story or game elements from the previous 3.

You are indeed correct you're conscious of trolling.

Or you can realize that it's okay to use elements that worked from previous games in the same successful series? No one said anything about it being permitted to "only use concepts from previous SE titles", if the game is titled Final Fantasy XIV -- Don't you logically assume it would feel like a part of the series? Why do you think Mystic Quest got so much flack? It wasn't a bad game, it just didn't seem like it should have been titled Final Fantasy Mystic Quest in the west.

There's a reason Yoshida says he wants to try to capture the Final Fantasy feel, and with 20 years worth of Final Fantasy games, it's clear what "Is and isn't" a Final Fantasy game -- it's why people say Final Fantasy XIII reviewed as it's own game it was great or bad (personal preference) -- as a Final Fantasy entry? We all know how that ended up.

Are you even conscious at all?

I don't even feel like I need to dignify your argument with a "WTF you can't be that stupid?"

Just because most games usually build upon the base of their predeccessors does not mean that they recycle every single feature and never introduce new ones. Considering also that there are examples of SE titles with free jump, I still fail to see the relevance of SE titles without it.

It does mean however developers are smart to use what does work from it's predecessors instead of completely throwing it out for something even far less efficient than it's last. The search system of FFXI was basic and could have been enhanced, instead we get less than basic version that was proximity based.

If you bother to go back to the original debate, someone was saying that "OMG DISSIDIA is so awesome because you can jump" and then you came along and was all like "Actually you can't jump in dissidia" and then I said "who cares" and then someone said "well you should care because dissidia is important" and then I said "Its no more important than anything else" and now you're just saying a bunch of random stuff that's not even related to the original debate.

Why does everything turn into a history lesson with you?

Regards to the video posted in the OP, I just fail to see how a search feature from FFXI resolves the issue.

I just wanted to know what the last Square game that used active jumping as an important feature of its gameplay was.
No idea where this argument is coming from.
