think i fixed the issue, had to deal with permissions on the folder and wouldnt let the patcher alter files in the folder...seems retarded

Ah this was NOT the fix that I had tried ... am rerunning with the files linked on the first page, will edit this post and main post if it worksThis thread? http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...lient%29/page5
If not, I'm sorry I can't help you further, as I thought it is the same problem that they were having as well.
As for this one, if you look at the permissions it actually auto reverts to read-only upon closing the properties window

Well, I had this problem but I figured it out on my own. If you were like me and had the realm reborn window open and ready to go and all you had to do was enter your pw etc, then you will get that code. Well, I can't say for sure if its the same code. I got one that looked like yours but a ton of different numbers. ANYWAY, my fix was, I closed the launcher out completely and restarted it. I'm downloading the patch now.
TL;DR: If you been babysitting on the launcher, close it out then relaunch and try again.
I dont know about the others, but I randomly opened it and logged in to see if there was a patch when I received the errorWell, I had this problem but I figured it out on my own. yea obviously you should of closed and reentered.. but i didnt have any problem most ppl didnt... best u can do is wait till maint is over make sure u try restarting a few times if that doesnt work u will have to delete and reinstall after
As I said before the reinstall method does not work for this error, it just winds up giving the error on the file that ends in "0000d" instead of the most recent patch

Can patch, cant play, servers are still down for maintenance.
does no one read anymore? THIS POST IS ABOUT THE INABILITY TO PATCH not the obvious current inability to play
btw updated the first post with a list of 'fixes' and the results that they are met with ... I highly doubt that since I have done everything people can thing of (SQEX included) that the issue is client side
It is a client side issue or possibly an issue with your internet.
While it would be a lot of work to try, have you tried to reinstall your computer from scratch?
That way you certainly won't have any old beta files that may interfere in some way.
I do assume that you've really uninstalled all previous FFXIV instances and cleaned your My Documents folder and checked in Program Files for any SE/FFXIV folders left after uninstalling.
