The only game I can think of aside from this one w/o the anti-afk is EvE. Which is amazing considering it is only one "world". Then again the population of that game is nowhere in neighborhood of ff14 even (despite being a great game =[ )If the anti-afk feature did not serve a purpose and wasn't at least minimally effective at reducing server congestion, why wouldn't every MMO just exclude it? I have never personally played an MMO where there wasn't a form of anti-afk in place. It's obviously there for a reason in those other MMOs. As far as there being ways around the anti-afk feature, that doesn't matter. The only point at which the feature would not be helpful in ANY way, would be if 100% of the population circumvented the anti-afk. The likelyhood of that is nil. You'll have people who will circumvent it, yes, but unless that number is 100% of the people who go afk for any reason, then the feature is helpful.
