You're wrong, the servers can handle more people than they are limiting right now. Duty Finder was the bottleneck when that limit wasn't there, I was experiencing barely any lag, it was just rare occasions (and I'm from EU playing on NA server).Data Center Capacity =/= World Capacity.
They are adding new worlds, which will result in more players than their current duty finder servers can handle. Thus they are splitting the worlds into multiple groups, with their own duty finders.
This doesn't change the fact that the current worlds can only handle ~5000 players concurrently without suffering major stability issues, lag, etc.
So... the full realms stay full. People still can't log into them. New realms are created - people who can't log into their current servers roll alts there. But they aren't playing their mains, or able to play with their friends, or have to start over - because SE hasn't said anything about forcing server splits to distribute their current players to a larger pool of worlds, nor are they offering any free migrations to those new worlds - and the paid character transfer service isn't expected for weeks.

/sigh seriously OP? your complaining saying something isnt gonna work and they havent even done it yet? whats with people these days? Seriously you need to chill out and just wait for the maintenance then make your little judgements after its done and if it isnt fix. Considering the amout of people you see on, the worlds are capped at less than 5,000 at the moment.
There is a queue, it just only supports a number of people just like servers. If it is currently at that number it just kicks you out with an error.What everyone here fails to mention, login queues. It's so freaking simple, apply a login queue and most frustrations will be gone.

I was actually wondering this myself, as I've read so many different posts the information was all starting to meld together, and I wasn't sure what the maintenance was exactly going to do.
Now just gotta be patient til 8pm tomorrow night to see if I can play (for us here in Aus anyway)

Just sayin'increasing the number of concurrent logins allowed for each server
They need to implement an AFK auto disconnect. Been trying to log on since 8am on the east coast. I'm about 150% sure about 3,000-3,500 of the people currently on the server causing this are sleeping or on their way to work/school right now.
