I hope they keep up the good work
I've been playing MMO's for 10 years now and launch issues are just something I've come to expect/accept. It happens a lot so don't be put off. The best part of an MMO for me is finding a group of friends to tackle content with so be sure you keep a look out for guilds (free companies I think they are called here) as doing things in a group is just way more fun!

Ah this I didn't know. I assumed that as it wasn't on the HUD Layout options it wasn't possible to achieve, this is good news!! Thanks for sharing that (sorry for multi posting but hit char limit fast with multi quotes!)

I strongly agree, if you push aside the server issues, the game itself is beautiful and brilliant, and I believe that Square Enix did a phenomenal job putting it together!

Server issues is what we should expect for a few weeks on any MMO Release and it's something everyone should learn to accept as well. Sadly, not all of the people feel this way. I'm not blaming them for it because they have their points. It's just that there are also people who see things differently.

BTW, I haven't been to Gridania since I started out in Ul'dah. Hoping to see some greenery when I get access to the Airship as I unlock the CNJ class for my character.

This is my first P2P and I'm liking it so far... login issues aside. The environment is gorgeous, I take chocobo porters to travel if my quest destinations are far on foot and it's nice watching the scenery go by.

And I agree, the day and night cycles with weather changes is interesting. They even have their own Eorzea time, lol. And you get to check in an inn and your character curls up to sleep when you exit.

True, not being able to play is frustrating. But all I can do is keep the faith, hope it gets easier to log in to play eventually.

The inn rooms get unlocked eventually if you continue along your story mode. The inn rooms have the amoire (but I have yet to store anything in it...) and a journal for viewing cutscenes you've already seen, and the summoning bell for retainers. And there's a comfy bed there that you can click to sleep in when you select log out or exit.
