I'm fine with these times, finally it's during the morning at my place and not after I get home

Always was annoying in FFXI when they would do maintenance during EU prime.
Not sure if I will even have time to play before maintenance start though.
Maintenance is going to screw up someone, that's a given. This time is NA. As I don't live there, it's fine with me. That OP is so selfish that he gets worked into a tantrum because he can't play a few hours and wishes that this happened to others, it's just typical of the shitty world you end up living when the laws of evolution are ignored

LOL at "screw-over US", GROW UP! It's EU Prime Time entirely, so if SE hates anyone it's the EU players.Well the "miracle" fix is coming on Wednesday Sep. 3rd and what does SE do??? They choose 5pm to 3am pdt to take down every world and hopefully fix this huge problem they should've never had. If after 10+ hours of taking all worlds down during the peak playtime hours in the USA this crap isn't fixed people are going to quit in droves, why not take all worlds down maybe from 2am to 12pm, that makes more sense, instead you choose to screw over the US population again.
They're in JAPAN, this is 8 or 9 AM their time and they're doing it so all the people they'll need are on-hand. Yes, the servers are in Canada but the technical knowledge is in Japan so if/when issues arise deploying these updates the needed staff will be immediately available.
Actually no... its US Prime time. To quote the post for EU @ http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...79#post1152379

That certainly doesn't look like "EU Prime Time entirely" as you put it. Learn to tell time.
Personally I could care less as long as it deals with the login issues.
I'm glad for once to not be the one shafted by US based maintenance, now the americans get to know how it feels. For once it's during a decent time in the EU, from around 0200 to 1200 CET on wednesday.
I cant count the MMO games where EU players have been shafted by US maintenance. Even in GW2 which had seperate datacenters/servers for US and EU we got maintenance during US buisness hours.
Once more into the fray. Into the last good fight I'll ever know. Live and die on this day. Live and die on this day.

Finally, a voice of reason in all of this. People seem to be conveniently forgetting that the time span is within the business working hours of the Japanese crew for Square Enix so that they can have all hands on deck for the maintenance. Which would you prefer, not during EU/NA prime time but during JP skeleton crew time so that we have a shoddy fix at best, or during their JP working hours and we sacrifice a day of gameplay so that they can have their top workers solve this mess? And don't give me this bullshit about it's in Canada so it's not the JP crew's entire problem. As an employee at Freescale, we extensively worked with the Chinese crew concerning our products, and that meant we had to work extremely late in the night so that we can have the China Freescale's top engineers on hand.LOL at "screw-over US", GROW UP! It's EU Prime Time entirely, so if SE hates anyone it's the EU players.

In short, I understand you're mad about the whole server thing as I am, but on whining about the maintenance time, get over yourselves. You can't supersede your selfishness over a sound technical plan to get this problem alleviated.
