    Heres the Issue.

    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/76132

They limited the servers....We are still experiencing maximum concurrent connection numbers of over 230,000 users

Really people you sell over a million copies of the game PC/PS3 and you limit the system to 230,000 users..... really

SE need to do some major upgrades..

Yeah I am surprised anyone at SE let this happen considering the NEEDED a success out of this game and just completely dropped the ball.

As far as I know, there is no such infrastructure that can support over a million concurrent users to date, especially at launch. {Blizzard may have the tech by now, but certainly took them years to build and hundreds of servers later} Best I've last heard was World of Tanks with just over 430k and thats even after they've been live for over a year.

Expecting everyone to play at very same time during launch week is ludicrous.

Not being able to log in doesn't result in failure, if anything its screaming nothing but successful demand and grandeur! SE are the first to totally rebuild a failed MMO, win back the support of their fans and destroy the quote, "first impressions matter"...

Yes, but they knew beta tester numbers, pre order numbers, etc... They should have been able to do a LITTLE bit more to boost server capacity beyond freekin 5000... And there should have been like 35 na/eu servers to begin with! While they shouldn't be expecting everyone to play during launch week, they should have prepared for more players in na/eu.

Khalus I work with server structures all the time especially when the game information resides on the P/C or PS3 owners system, there side is pretty much running an SQL server and server racks to maintain the connection required to the server clustering ie instance server and Realms. All you have to do is increase server capacity is add more system racks yes they are very expensive.. but 1million preorders should of given them enough to expand to what they needed, not give SE top exec a bonus for the re-release of the game.

On a side Note: PS3 integration on this MMO probly put the biggest strain on the system due to Mixing Consule and P/C users... 230,000 may of been a good number to start with just PC users.

They had almost 1mil pre-orders for 1.0 too. Their caution was fully warranted. And Japanese executive are not greedy like US/UK execs are.{not all of them are} They have been prone{look it up if you want} to take substantial pay cuts due to failures and/or to keep their staff employed instead of layoffs.

That's / server I think. Also, they don't intend idiots and donkeys to remain logged in 24+ hours inactively.

you'd be surprised how many people preordered the two nights before beta started. At least 5 of my friends did just that. There is absolutely no way for them to have increased server capacity in that short of time.

Khalus, I dont know what you do for a living, if you actually work or are a student. But we are just pointing out they were wrong and putting it on a public forum. Don't defend them unless you work for them, on that note even the Server you play on Gilgamesh has been locked out of player creation since Beta Phase 3, I should know I was supposed to roll on there myself with my work buddies. A server should have never been locked out for creation in BETA to release... that is openly uncalled for.

And my point of not being able to log in leading to failure kind of was meant that lots of people have already exclaimed they are quitting and wanting refunds due to this. It gives bad rep to the company and to the game. Something they don't really want after 1.0, yet SOMEONE allowed this server mess to occur. The game is clearly thriving since I can't log on lol... but SE as a company is definitely not looked on favorably by the na/eu crowd at the moment and even after they fix this they probably still will not be too keen on SE because they know how grossly they can "misjudge" things... Idk, I know if I was an SE exec and saw this problem occur and how they are handling it I would be cracking some skulls.
