A few things to note that I've noticed: "imminent threat" is mentioned here, and probably is what Yoshi-P was talking about with the upcoming changes.

This line "Urianger Augurelt: When the sixth sun will have set and the seventh moon shine in the sky, the ocean of clouds poured a rain of faiery flames and shadows fatal burst forth from the depths of the earth..." I recall this at the beginning scene right after making your character. I wonder what that has to do with the coming threat?

Hey that Shadow line might mean something from the R46 Mission that I have always wondered what was meant.

The Garlean guy says "The stench of Shadow lingers still", I always thought he meant something by it but now things are starting to make sense maybe. When the airship crashes in the opening CG cutscene the Primals are released maybe they are the Shadows he is mentioning spewing from the earth. I know we see Ifirit and work with them sort of but I have always had this suspicion that they are actually the bad guys not the Garleans. Don't get me wrong Garleans have done bad things but we don't know why they do what they do. We do know that they don't like the beast tribes however. Maybe they are doing it out of desperation to save their people.
