I just don't get it, i mean why? I've actually tried to think about how he would make a good batman and (i really did) all i got was a headache. That and waking up the next morning wondering where or what I was doing.
I for one pretty much expected this launch to be a mess with horrid delays, errors, etc. ... and of course, Square-Enix "delivered" on it.
I remember how hard it was to get into FFXI during that initial North America PS2 launch time in spring 2004. Ooh gee, how many days was it battling with the patch downloader before I finally saw Windurst for the first time? Then the FFXIV launch in September 2010. It was hell trying to download the client and patch files. I had to torrent it since the official download stream didn't work at all, too many people. That first day in Gridania was soooo laggy. I can still picture the massive swarm of people at the old Bentbranch camp who could hardly move because the server was just choking to death.
So, with this game, I guess I prepared myself to be kicked off the server, glitch out, can't log in, can't make a character on the server I want, etc. It is frustrating, but not too surprising. I've been down this path before, so I know that within a few weeks, things will be a lot smoother. Things do get resolved. I've wait a long time for this game, so waiting another couple weeks isn't going to kill me.
While I feel that Square-Enix is trying to fix things asap, they could have done a lot better job at smoothing out this launch based on what happened from their previous MMO launches. When they feel that they've screwed up, like now, they do try to offer some sort of compensation for it.
Still, I believe it's impossible to accurately predict exactly how many people will actually buy the game. It seemed that they thought, sure, there were a lot of beta testers these past months, but when it comes time to dish out actual money, a good number of people are probably going to wait a few weeks to see how the revised game is received before making a final decision since they got burned the first round. Also, a good number of people may wait to avoid the initial launch issues, because after enough MMO launches, it becomes a well-known issue.
I was, in fact, one of these people ... didn't want to get burned again ... until the last minute when I decided to go ahead and preorder. You get a lot of people who preorder a game when the preorder is first available, then it levels off sharply, and then the last several days before launch, you get another big wave of preorders. I think that last wave is what tripped up Square-Enix. When they finally got a better idea of what the actual numbers were, it was just a few days before early access was to begin.
Even so,, based on what I remember from the FFXI servers regularly being around 2800 to 3500 logins, I find 5000 per server to be a bit low for a game launch like this. I've been trying to keep up hopeful spirits and calm patience for this game even though the nonstop login errors are quite vexing, I got Netflix and Plants vs Zombies 2 to fiddle with.![]()

Affleck should be cast as a Batman villain. I think he could pull that off. Maybe he's actually playing an anti-Batman... one can dream right.

SE can tale their time to fix up those new bad boys! Let them rigs handle them titans in a rush like if they were fish in a river! For now, I'm sure I can do SP MANY other activities like watching J-Drama, K-Drama, anime, read manga, play skyrim/battlefield, get to my GK resin figure building hobby and tend to my IRL business.

Honestly, I get it. It's an MMO launch, and they are always really bad for server congestion. But I think it's a huge oversight on Squeenix's part that there is no server queue. I don't mind waiting in line to get on the server. I do mind having to go back to the main menu, select my character again, and try to log in multiple times.
I'm starting to wonder what in the hell people did before August 23. The way most people act, it's like life before this game didn't exist or something, for God's sake. Read a book, watch a movie, have dinner with friends, enjoy the last few days of summer (or winter, if you're in the Southern Hemisphere). Holy smokes, it's a game and the devs and your fellow players are real, live, actual human beings, not pixels. Sheesh! You'd think unanticipated circumstances never happened before...

I don't think most people mind the idea of having to wait to get in... what they mind is NOT HAVING A WORKING QUEUE SYSTEM.
I'd be happy to log in, select my character, and be told the estimated wait time was 3 hours. Great! I'll run out to the store and do a couple errands, and be back around the time I can get in. No big deal.
Instead, we get a random loop of click-login, get 1017 error, click-login, get no NA/EU server list, rinse and repeat for an unknowable random number of times until you get in, you get fed up and leave, or your mouse button dies from the constant clicking.
Fix the queue system. Allow 500,000 people to sit in the damn queue for 20 hours, if that's what it takes... but give us a working queue.
Pull down all the servers, get them up when you know they can handle the people wanting to use them (queues, afk kickers, etc). Don't give us the false hope of getting it, or allowing the people that are afking in game so they can play without having to relog to ruin it for the rest of us. EQUALITY FOR ALL!

I'm 100% disabled, not "I got a paper cut in Kuwait," either, as mine predates OEF/OIF and was much harder to obtain under pre-9/11 regs. So cry me a river, hee-roe, and come talk to me when your complaint isn't "I just came back from 3 weeks of training and I can't log in precisely when I want until they get the servers corrected," but more like a tropical downpour inside your tactical op center on your equipment--which is utterly obsolete to begin with--while you are under attack. How about you get off your high horse?
It took me 5 hours to get past the error yesterday after I was booted from the queue on 4 different occasions. Wednesday and Thursday evening are the only evenings that I have available to play.
I work a full time job plus have National Guard Duties on the weekends. I just got back last week from 3 weeks of annual training at Ft Drum, NY, which meant sleeping on the ground for 3 weeks while being rained on and eaten alive by mosquitoes and black flies.
I don't need some white knight coming on the forum to tell us that we shouldn't complain about not being able to play a game that we paid for.
Kids these days--bitch about anything and everything because they're so entitled.
