But...You have the spinny thing? Why do we need the rigidness of numbers. I prefer the analog of the "clock-like" timer.

Because when you have a long cooldown, the "spinny thing" isn't good at showing you the 1-2 seconds remaining for the spell.

Having numbers on the action bar helps with cooldowns and tight situations.
