The physical level system has been altered from it's original design which is why it is not functioning properly. Originally your character would have been judged on it's Physical level and not it's class rank. What I mean by this is that if you were a rank 50 physical level you could fight mobs that were rank 50 even if your class level was rank 10. Doing this allowed you to shape your character in any way you wished and the classes would be the tools to shape and build your class any way you wished.

Once you realise this you can see how all the pieces of the armoury system fit into place by taking skills and abilities from your weapon specialisations to truly create your own character.

However for some reason that I do not know they changed it around and made your class level dictate your characters growth. This has thrown the whole armoury system out of whack so to speak. Yes you can still chop and change but your freedom is limited and watered down to how it was originally designed to work.

my siggy is now accurate. Personaly think the Issue is people forcing the classes/ the system to how ffxi was designed, with set jobs, abilities and stats. People are so adament on min/maxing each class then the character as a whole. I'm doing the reverse and using the classes to design my character. So if you min/max each class individually, this system will not make sence. But if you use each class as a template for your character it makes more sence.

This was talked about since pre launch. That this system isn't about each individual class but your character as a whole, which is why they had a Physical level increase giving you stat and ele resist points, and rank giving your abilities and gear. Also the reason why you can cross class abilities to make your own class. Using various skills.

It isn't a bad system if you learn it. And stop forcing it to be something its not. But mostly play how you like. Just don't hate on people if they don't play your way.

Kilta you ever heard the expression 'Jack off all trades, master of none'.

Come end game you aren't going to get a group if your character is gimped, maybe that's a harsh truth but its a truth non the less.

My siggy isn't accurate. I play a different character. The only way I would be a gimped in my classes with balanced stats is if I do not use cross class abilities, which I do. I don't plan on playing my classes wtth just that class's abilities. Plus rendis Why do you even care on how I play? How is being 50 differ then my current levels?

Honestly Physical level is when we get point increases and is shared by all classes. Not based on rank increase. All rank increase does is give us gear improvements and abilities.

But that is just my opinion.

Also randis, I just Just stuck to a character, and feel that the point reassign is just to fix mistakes in setting points. I'm still trying to get to know the Game a bit. But so far I'm doing fine.

Dreamer pretty much sums up what I said also.
That is not how it works Kilta.

First off, using abilities from other classes you are not using them to the full potential. You can allocate stats but as a Gla for example your magic still gonna be weaker than with the original class.
you will be using magic with a melee class of course , especially when you play solo (buffing, healing) as well as many other abilities but you don't have to pump in INT/Mind/Piety for no reason other than having all stats even.
In a party you will not be healing anyone seriously as a DD and if you want to have a better healing effect solo then you better get the 'Prime Conditioning' (pug) ability that will grand you 10% more when healed and some SP based healing abilities.

As i mentioned earlier, having a lower physical level then your job rank means that your character is weaker than someone at the same rank but with a higher physical level. (it is capped at some point)
That for it is important to switch jobs because the physical level goes up slower than the Job rank.

At your low physical level you hardly feel difference with the stat allocation, you will see a much stronger effect when you equip better gear than climbing 1-2 ranks.
FFXIV stats are not like FFXI stats, you will learn that later... You need to pump in a lot more points to see a effect.
If you for example choose to distribute stats and then pump in 30 points in INT you wil see that your gladiator will only have a little increase when using a healing spell. It is not worth it unless you assign a lot more but then again you better use the points for vitality and attack.

Each class has a certain way to be played, evasion for Gladiator for example not really is very important as you do a lot damage using Phalanx (250 tp attack) that requires block.
Other jobs need a lot of evasion because their vitality or defense is low, other jobs again need non of it because they can easily heal. There are various tactics how you can play solo, having ranked some classes you will have a easy time ranking up a new class.
you can experiment an you will experiment (and be forced to allocate stats often)
when i started with a Thaumaturge for example i could use Aegis Boon 2 right away and heal 2 and some other defensive abilities, killing mobs more than 10 levels higher than myself is easy, i was getting almost 500 SP per kill till R20 and that is not in a leve or behest.

It will be a huge difference once you reach Physical level 50 however. As you can imagine you will have a large number of points but when using reassign you can only relocate a small portion at a time (long cooldown)

Also when ranking up several classes at once it is very annoying to do leves (for guild points) as you are forced to change your class in order to get those. Then you have to allocate stats (or use some abilities that allocate stats) and change all your action bar setup (or write macro for that purpose, annoying s well)

Distributing your points evenly to all stats is not a good idea btw, all you get is some gimped class.
You are assuming that people dont understand the system and that for complain, this is not the case. It is you who not yet fully has grasped the system.
People complain because the allocation is VERY annoying. If we could save stat profiles most people would be happy.

I Actually like the system but I wish each point to be worth something i wouldn't mind a 50 STR cap if those 50 points would actually make a difference in attack.

I would something more like where the game set a cap on the stats but you can max out your character, but where each point we allocate the next one would need the double. So after you max STR you would need something like the double of points spend here to Max DEX and so on.

This way people can max their character at the LONG LONG run but are made to think how to allocate their points at the start

Randis, maybe you don't get it because your forcing the system to be what it is not. And that is the ffxi or similar job/class system of other mmo. Unlike past mmo, we have more say in what skills we can use, which is the point of the system. If they didn't want us to cross class skills we wouldn't be able to.What it looks like to me, is your a min/max style person. And you see as a mage is the only ones who can cast magic and the fighting classes are the only ones who can melee. You don't see how a mix is possible. So far I've been doing fine with my style of play, even did a beginner behest with someone, so it was us 2 vs mobs and it went by fast. My nukes took out pretty nice chunks out of 11s @ my being r7 gld and I forget my Phy Level. As did my red lotus blade.

Personally the only way a person is gimped with this system is if they don't really cross over skills. Plus isn't stats caped anyway which make stats on gear useless, well that is if u put too much into them.

But all in all, If your gaving fun playing it your way, that is good. I'm having fun playing it my way. Having fun is the more importent part in playing a game. Personally I see there is no wrong way to play this system. Well unless you force it to be something it isn't.

The ffxiv class system its not how most if any mmo set theirs up. Also how do you know something is gimp if you didn't try it? Just because it isn't how past mmo does it?

Perhaps you should consider the possibility that you don't get it as well.

Combat at low ranks is not the same as combat at high ranks.
