I think bad DPSs are way worse, not focusing on adds and just ignoring mechanics. I have yet to meet a bad tank but every run has a derp dps. EVERY SINGLE RUN HAS A BAD DPS.
Think about it.

Lol. I did it once and passed it easily and I was a tank. Anyways, there's a learning curve for tanking. It's team work too and most tanks have to be leaders in my opinion. I would have trouble if I didn't have experience with other games too. So yeah, teach them. Don't insult them.
mostly in dungeons what has been a 100% success for me as tank is keeping hate from the main mob and letting dps take care of the little ones who don't hit for much. then when little ones are gone. beat up the main mob and have dps use limits when needed. Hasn't failed once.
Let's just for a moment imagine this world without tanks and healers, good or bad
yea that's what i thought
umm lets clarify this a bit:
healer aggro is out of control, the amount of aggro they get when healing a player is insane. I can spam all 3 taunts non stop as a gladiator and will NOT pull aggro off a healer once it has aggro
factor in the stupid usual DPS mentality of OH let me do the pulling here pew pew pew and then the tank has to spend the rest of the fight spam taunting to try and recover the fight or just say screw it and let the caster tank it
and then factor in the tank carbuncle. the tank carbuncle has more aggro and threat creation than a tank player, its absolutely ridiculous, several times we have had to just give up and let the carbuncle tank cause he holds aggro better than the tank.
and BTW ive been tanking in end game raid guilds since 1997 so yeah I know how to tank
So true healing and tanking are the most thankless jobs in mmos. OP you want me to do my job properly i will provided you dps/healers stop ignoring my marks, pulling mobs, breaking cc and this is a good one healers actually heal instead of dpsing and i don't know what spell it is but knocking the mob away from me doesn't help as much as you think it does. There's probably a few i'm missing but i'm in a hurry.
That's terrible. I'm curious how that tank died, since there's nothing really deadly within the first 15 seconds (poison etc).Q'd df last night for toto as arcanist, I got in the dungeon with 9 minutes left. The party I joined was on the last boss. With time about to run out I figured they probably died alot. I decide to follow through and see what was going on anyway. We enter the boss room and the tank was dead on about 15 seconds, true story.
Waiting an hour for df doesn't bother me, waiting an hour to be ported into that failure so I can exit and wait another hour pisssed me off a lil bit, lol.
- Was the Tank super undergeared?
- Was the healer not healing at all?
If the healer was not healing, did you try to help keep the Tank alive by using Physick.
Lol - Fluid Aura - It is pretty funny to see the mob fling away. At least if you have hate on them, they'll be back eventually. So true healing and tanking are the most thankless jobs in mmos. Honestly it sounds like the tank had gear from ten levels ago to go down that quickly. toto is a joke in terms of difficulty so for the tank to die 15 seconds in is purely undergeared in every category. That's terrible. This just in: Players are still learning class/job rolls 3 days after FFXIV official release! Players scream with outrage "Unacceptable!" yells some.
... -.-
Honestly, as a BRD, I can say that it usually doesn't require that I go full blast to pull hate. A large number of groups, if I use any buff that isn't Quelling Strikes, I'm going to pull hate off of the tank just by doing my normal DPS rotation. I usually save my buffs for the second mob in a group as a result, at least until Stone Vigil, where it starts to kinda matter that the #1 mob die quickly.Dragoon/Arcanist here,
no, most tanks dont suck, they just cant exactly hold hate when an archer/Bard or Lancer/Dragoon decides its time to go full dps burst moad before the tank has solid hate on it.
The inevitable result of which is us tearing hate off the tank at warp speed.
That's odd, because as a BRD I usually have no problem pulling mobs that get away from the tank off of my healer; and that's with not touching the mob at all until it starts hitting the healer, which is usually several seconds into the fight. If I can do it, I'm sure tanks can do it.
