Yeah I agree got summoner to 40 now I am really questioning why I picked the class in the first place if this is our damage the pets NEED to do waaaay more damage than they already do now.hate to break it to you, but Enkindle isn't that impressive at all >_>
Dunno what SE thought; 300sec CD on Enkindle when a BLM can spam Flare for more dmg and lower cd.And yes they can "spam" it (Flare) by using Convert/Hi-ether >_> They really need to either up the dmg on Enkindle or lower the cd. Summoner feels really underpowered atm. even their pets does silly dmg ._.


To SMN, how do you feel between SMN and ACN?
Would you see some advantages in staying ACN over SMN?
Because Carby is kinda cute... I will trade him for fairies because I like healing job but for DPS I would prefer keeping Carby...
What are your thoughts about it?

same here.....i have problems in dungeons because i have 0 burst, and lots of bosses need to kill Adds or u are going to die.....and u need to move while bursting , what i can cast on the move....let me see...a dot (lol) ,and the energy nuke that its limited by charges (2 atm) ......and ruin 2 does crappy dmg , is our main nuke and does half the dmg that stone II does (yeah the white mage nuke does more dmg .....)
the pets does poor little dmg , and has skills that are on looooooong CD (ifrit aoe 30s? come on)
when i see Drg , monks , thm , bards and even warrior/gladiator killing way faster than me .....
The arcanist is new and have not been tested very well, but i feel gimped , dots do little to nothing , my main nuke 2.5 cast time does half the dmg that other 2.5s nukes (fire ,stone, even blizzard) , i have 0 burst , my pets does crappy dmg , the only 1 worth it is titan and because can tank (in dungeons u dont want titan but oh well)
well i going to hit 50....because im half way there (37) and dont want to reroll now having no quests to level up.....lol
ppl ask me hey how its summoner? i feel embarrased to say that im the most worthless dps in the game , can i kill things? can i finish dungeons? yes but i guess when ppl hits 50 and notice how little dmg we do.....we are going to have hard time getting partys....
Hope SE can toss SMN a bone , just boosting Ruin can help a lot.
Your know its bad when a BLM spamming Blizzard III can outdmg you with no problem.
I think it's a pretty natural reaction to Summoners in this game given Final Fantasy's past. Yeah, lore wise they have set up summoners to be less flashy than they are in the past, but I think it's a pretty natural response. Summons are one of the defining features of Final Fantasy and going from Knights of the Round to a floating boulder might disappoint some people.
Keep in mind though, these are our starting summons. I expect when/if we ever get to summon the more terrifying Primals like Bahamut or Odin, they might be a tad flashier.
i dont think SE will let ppl summon bahamuth or odin ..... in FFXI to call odin , u need to use your 2h ....(1h now) still no bahamut ....
i guess we will get Ramuh , Leviathan since this primals are ingame....
but meh who cares if still have 80 potency attacks ?

I find most of the comments here hilariously ironic in juxtaposition to the Beta forum threads saying Arcanist is too OP because of Carby and needs to be nerfed, and now people are crying that Summoner isn't as powerful as they want and that summons look silly. Isn't the reason DRG has no pet because people thought it would make the class too OP? Or was it not too weak? I'm starting to think this community is just unable to be pleased.
I think that as a whole, there should be a limit to the things you can have following you, and a stricter limit to what is available in Fates. With summons, minions, and chocobos there are been quite a few instances where the lag has been unbearable. I don't have any grand ideas to fix it, just saying that I agree that these things could lead to problems down the road.
It's okay. I was just hoping to be like the summoners of old. I will get this guy to 50 and then switch focus to my Dragoon for DPS.
I have noticed our Ruin damage is SILLY low. I feel like our spells should work something like this.
Ruin: 100 potency, Increases the damage of Bio, Bio ll, Miasma by 10% for 10 seconds.
Ruin ll: 80 potency and +10 for Bio, Bio ll, Miasma.
At least that gives both skills a reason to be used. I think we are one of the few classes that get a skill that makes us almost never want to use our base attack again. This is just a base example and is not balanced in any way. It is just an idea. I think at some point I am going to make a ACN/SMN feedback thread.
