I find this whole discussion hilarious, in part because the instigators are so keen in ignoring their own reasons for arguing against the current restrictions.

Yes, this is the whole reason you are arguing about this, yes you will argue otherwise but if SE put any other restriction that would not stop you from making money off it, I am sure you would not argue about it.
I saw a few people making one interesting point, Square Enix has a lot of suscribers at the moment and more coming, I am sure they can handle their own advertising.
As for the pissed off youtubers that can not make money off it, I laugh for their forced critiques aimed at debunking the game,it goes along with all the damn reviews out there who out of being pissed off are giving the game a bad rep.

I am sorry, I guess because I do not "scrape" income off just one thing I cannot relate.

Main thing is, under the law you are stealing, no matter how poor you may be (though affording internet and a gaming computer makes me doubt that) it is not excuse to break the law.

You can stick it up to the man and blame the illuminati as much as you want, but unless you play with the rules, instead that against them you will always face a wall at the end of the day.

You do realize that it says you cannot monetize through youtube or other sites that have certain programs but it doesn't say you can't monetize in other ways right? All this says is you cannot charge for views in any way, shape or form. What you still can do is ask for donations. You can still "make money" off of videos. Just not directly. Honestly, the rule about not adding third party music to videos is far worse and harsher than not allowing certain forms of monetization.

Watched video, listened to that guy's comments about it... found out that I couldn't care less. I didn't realize there were so many people that made money off of video's about video games. Oh well, there are plenty of other games out there they can make money off of.

This doesn't just affect those people. There are people under Youtube partnerships like Polaris that were planning on covering the game - they have legal agreements with game publishers to use footage from their games in videos, LEGALLY, and they are all railing against this Materials Usage Agreement because it supercedes those existing agreements and that makes no sense.

If SE is breaking contract, they shooting themselves in the foot, time will tell if their move was correct on their part.

You can't claim the intellectual property or its derivatives as your own if the intent is to monetize(MAKE MONEY) off said intellectual property. Its a very simple concept to understand. Everyone that's had a somewhat decent education should have learned in secondary school about not plagiarizing or copying the works of others without giving proper citations or credit to the original creator.

There is no originality in monetizing off the hard work of someone else. Regardless of how good the person is at making videos or the "free advertising". What company in their right mind would let someone else profit off their product they worked so hard to create? It's SE's creation and they make the rules on how it can be used and they have clearly stated that.

If you fail to understand that then you deserve to get DMCA'd or Sued for copyright infringement.
