AOE issues preventing me from beating titan.

Ok so I'm on Odin, EU, and I'm playing from the UK, on a 120mb virgin media DSL connection. I've been having problems with AOE attacks, I see the AOE marker on the ground, move out of the way the attack triggers and still hits me despite me being way out of the box. During the titan fight this makes his knock back attack an instant kill unless I'm right on the edge of the box when it spawns, and I run about three times the distance away from the box, which means that after three angry parties I still haven't beaten the boss. My party members swear blind that I'm not moving out of the target area.

I assumed it was lag at first, but I'm a healer so my party would obviously be dead if I were lagging, I'm not showing any visible signs of lag, and after pinging the server my latency is sub 110ms.

Connection latency / Server Lag. Basically your client is registering that you are really far away but the Server isn't getting those updates (hence why your party members see you standing in the AOE).

It's a latency thing; you just work around it until either your connection or the server's connection improves. You can try to close out of all other network applications (Skype, Axon, Vent, Teamspeak, uTorrent, Steam, etc.) and see if that improves your latency. Until SE adds more servers to deal with the congestion all we can do is twiddle our thumbs.

I don't have anything else running other than the game, I'm lv41 now and I've managed to clear titan through sheer luck, but I'm running in to more and more bosses that I just can't beat without being able to dodge these attacks. It's annoying because this is ONLY happening with AOE attacks, my healing is spot on, nobody is moving funny there are no other signs of lag at all, this isn't happening to anybody else in the same instance as me, or on the same server as me (that I'm aware of).

I guess it's too much to ask that square actually provide some technical support in their technical support forums, right?

It's a known latency issue.

EU servers are located in USA too.
You can hope that it will get better if SE speaks with ISP in Britain to let them recognise FFXIV traffic not as peer2peer traffic.

Try playing from australia and dodging the aoe attcks. ive do the same issue, even in general play

Yea this happened to me on theIfrit story battle. No need to say it had me worried when my HP was taken nearly all the way down because the AOE was being unfair.

its the same when u try to hit moving mobs ... it just doesnt work ... EU players are just fucked. MOVE THE EU SERVER TO EU GOD DAMMIT
