im enjoying sch, i throw out heals when tank gets low otherwise i act like a dd and let my fairy do what it wants, sometimes i dont even pay attention to my teams hp... no one dies though, i almost feel like sch is a little overpowered but thats fine with me, im sure once the game has been out a while and some jobs get broken there will probably be a nerf

I also observe one issue with the fairy, and that is some recast times. The aoe regen and magic defense recast times should be a bit shorter imo. Scholar itself only has one AOE heal of 150 cure potency with the shield.

I still enjoy SCH much more than WHM however.

And incase anyone didn't realize this, Arcanist, SCH, and SMN can raise during battle from the moment they get their resurrect spell. I for one am glad they didn't exclude them from combat raising, because that would be one major point of imbalance.

I hope they fix on the commands / auto on the fairies. If you want to command manually the fairies you can disable its Auto. Its a bad thing that Fairies cast it freely. Even i put the hotbar but still it acts freely. I hope they should address this issue.

Im saying to myself what is the sense of having a Command buttons for pet if they act freely on its own.

Try to reconfigure the AI of the fairies. If the party has 60% HP then cast the AOE heal. I really hoping to fix it but overall Im getting to like the SCH

from what I've seen for the first couple dungeons you can do after getting access to scholar it feels way overpowered because the damage isn't very intense and the fairy can almost do it by herself

but after that the fairies can get pretty unreliable
they just spot heal whoever is lowest, including pets, and go auto mode by themself after their first spell use
they seem to pretty often just derp out and do nothing even after giving them a command they'll fly over cast a heal then fly back to you and do nothing again
there is no way to make them focus like sic and obey just don't work for them

this is a problem since scholar heals are purposefully weaker because the fairy healing is supposed to fill in the gap
I feel it will be something worked on soon though, the pet bar needs a lot of work in general imo it has a lot of superfluous stuff that could just be remedied with auto-toggles on the individual skills and fairies need different commands altogether

Other than that scholar seems totally fine
I find it weird that at 38 my scholar has more int than mnd even wearing a few pieces of mind jewelery
the charge system i find very cool having access to what are basically supercharged spells with instant off global cooldown casts

I also don't get why you are not getting a free talent reset once you hit the soul or why our trades boost intelligence.
In general I find the scholar lacking, fun at start but giving it a closer look it's meh.

It's a strong job though and the gimmicks like buffs and a 90% damage reduction (not sure what the cd will be) will mean they bring a lot on the table for a 24 man raid.
Being able to coordinate with another scholar and pretty much keep one buff 100% on the raid is huge, borderline op.
I also think the buff fairy might be the better choice in most fights raid wise.

White mages are there to heal up the raid, they can do that a lot better.
How ever when you have incoming damage the scholar can pre shield, when that's not going on they can just spam the tank.
The shield buffer on the tank makes damage less spiky.


It's a gimmick healer and a good one, but I think I will prefer the white mage more.

I feel like the SCH's lack of AoE healing potency is the only real reason to play a WHM at this point. If you did buff Scholar's AoE healing, I can't fathom why anyone would want to play a WHM instead. They're god awful boring and have some really poorly designed mechanics (Overcure & Stoneskin in particular).

Choice, of course. The only reason to pick one over the other should be player preference. If you have to pick one because it does this better, or is overall a better class, then their balancing is fail. Scholar doesn't even have as powerful of a single target regen that WHM does, and Medica II can easily be seen as overkill when you compare it to what scholar has for AOE healing ability.

WHM AOE spells Medica, Cure III, and Medica II which has a regen as its after effect. I think the Fairies aoe regen could see a much shorter cooldown based on this, and maybe Succor should be 200 potency instead of 150.

had a terrible time with the first boss of AV as SCH. fairy seems basicly useless on it and our only AoE heal isn't really that great (mp costs are kinda high). Sure practice might change that but I'm sure I'd would have been much easier as whm.
I do like Sacred Soil though.
And yes the fairy is too random sometimes.

Creates a designated area in which party members will only suffer 90% of all damage inflicted. Read the tool tip again.
