well before I started playing this game, pet control was my main concern because I really wanted to roll a scholar because all the stuffs seems so fun and useful ( separated fairy's heals, AoE spell buff, AoE defense buff ).
I chickened out and roll a CNJ/WHM instead because of these reasons.

I really hope this issues get fixed soon ( I think WoW pet management system can be good example ) and I will enjoy playing as SCH in the future!

On Fairy control. It could be better but for the most part I haven't had an issue with the Fairy. Put it on steady and it won't cast its advanced spells, but it'll still cast its main heal spam, which is what you wanna do most of the time. Whenever I need the aoe heal I just use that, I do wish they change it so it doesn't revert to guard but generally if I need to aoe heal, I need all the spells anyway. I guess if you're trying to use the support fairy and only cast the skill/spell speed buffs and not the silence it's kinda annoying but in groups I'd rather have the 30secs HoT, the speed buffs don't do enough(maybe when we get more +speed gear).

Overall really like the class so far, but wish we would get the dispel(leeches) earlier, as mobs start to do heavy debuffs like paralysis around 30 and you have to wait until 40. Like the last boss of Cutter's Cry was a pain cause he kept shooting paralyze nukes at me and then I'd fail 2-3heals in a row for the next 30secs. I think getting Leeches > AoE Heal > Single target strong heal for example would work out better, while the heal is great you could survive fine spamming Physick instead until 40 and being able to dispel stuff in Brayflox, Qarn or Cutter would be awesome.

Just scholar heal'd Titan, and man was it fun. Fairy helps out a lot. It did a good job without being commanded.

The problem with Scholar, and Summoner and arcanist, is that you cant command your pet while you are casting a spell. They need to fix that.

And yea, it would be nice to be able to re-arrange the pet bar, and put commands on our hotbars. I think they can be macro'd tho.

ok i healed Haukke manor (war , smn ,smn , and me as sch yay 3 arcanists ftl) , had some MP problems because the party rushed the dungeon

    1- Pet , already covered
2- Aetherflow is nice , but forcing a healer to loss target , to cast energy drain ( mp regain x2 )...is frustrating
3- No cleanse until 40 .......conjs got it at 28....
4- Passive traits - Enhanced INT?????????? .....why?

scholars look like a afterthough , and rushed just to give players another reason to roll an Arcanist.....because summoners arent popular enough...they are everywhere.....

whm win hands down (Regen , free cure procs, good traits , divine seal ,MEDICA II+cure III (aoe healing !)

the only thing SCH have is the bubble and the buffs from fairy.....other than that.....

A lot of people are saying how you should be able to control the pet while casting but really think about it a little. While casting the master is concentrating on the spell at hand in general magic mythology even brief moment of interruption would cause failure. You can't point at a monster to order an attack if you are focusing power. You can't scream "SIC 'EM" if you are chanting. It is simply how things work. Would I be turned off if they let us control during other action? No. But I sure am ok with out being able to do it from a logical stand point.

As a ACN dpser, I saw a healer gain healing aggro on a boss crab's minions in Costa Del Sol. I have AoE offensive spells so I can't take them all off her but I couldn't sic my carbuncle on them either while in mid cast and every second counts. Role Playing or not, some of us need to multitask for the safety of our group, and to change the target for our pets on a whim. This really is a pain, albeit bearable. I don't normally play a pet class but when I do I hotkey attack and stop for my pet so whatever mob I choose needs to do as it's told.

I originally had Scholar as my goal...but I actually got addicted to WHM levelling for Stoneskin...so now I just want to level ACN for Eye for an Eye skill.

White Mage does have a few things that are nicer than Scholar....Repose for example and Fluid Aura are great crowd control skills. But....

Freecure is nothing like the Scholar's Procs....it always activates when you don't need it lol. And if you plan on saving the proc...and start using it when it nearly expires (when you might need to) it still uses the MP.

And at the moment THM acts as a good cross-class for both but it doesn't have the utility CNJ and ACN both offer; dot's debuffs and heals...which is a shame xD

Is it a better idea to focus attributes on INT and just use Cleric Stance?

So, has anyone noticed if our stats affect the Fairies at all? I had most of my gear break mid-run and I think my Fairies healing potency too a hit as well, but I didn't actually check proper. Got to say I'm really happy with Adloquium giving Scholar a secondary stat to focus on, plus if our critical hit stats carry over to the Fairies then that's another 20% spell speed from the trait which stacks nicely with Selene. I wonder if spell speed might actually be a worthwhile stat for Scholar to go after with that in mind... I know it was generally worthless in p3 for all but the longest spells (Summon being our longest?), but since we could fairly easily get 50% spell speed already it might be different for Scholar?

Terrible idea. Cleric Stance gives you -20% on your healing spells, and all of Scholars gear focuses primarily on Mind, so that is going to beat out Intelligence in which case you're using Cleric Stance to get lower Mind and -20% healing magic. Cleric Stance is only good for turning your Mind into Intelligence, the fact that Scholar has access to it makes Intelligence almost a completely worthless stat for Scholar.

Since they've neglected to give a free The Keeper's Hymn when unlocking a Job (though you can buy them for 10,000 company seals...) I'm waiting till 50 to put my attributes onto anything. Intelligence is the obvious choice for Summoner, and Mind for Scholar, but Piety might be a good middle ground (better than a 15:15 split, at least).
