    Consider these facts:

    - Launches are historically flawed.
    - - This is an "acceptable" practice in this field. Mainly because "Launch" server capacity isn't indicative of -actual- capacity (say, a few months down the road). As this is as much a business model as it is an entertainment platform, there is more of a focus on long-term server stability, as opposed to short-term stability.
    - - Consider a "return-on-investment" mindset. Should we spend a relatively large sum of money on a short-term fix; only to be stuck with that overhead once the flood has receded? - Or, should we focus those resources on long-term stability, development, etc.?

Paid good money to play this game, log in for a few hours, get kicked w/ error 90000, now eternal error 1017 and can't play any more. Couldn't get in at all yesterday, and Sunday only for a couple hours. Fail launch #2, congrats SE, you did it again.

Also, AMD support is pathetic, barely run at 40fps w/ AMD 7990, very choppy. That said, it looks pretty, now if only I could 1) log in, and 2) play at more than 40fps.

At least it was only $30 wasted, and not $50-60 like other games.

    Very disapointed.

I could ask you the same? What game or games did not even allow you to log in for several days? I bought this bloody game this Sunday I haven't been allowed to create a character on a EU Server as of yet. I've never seen any game handle a launch or re-launch this bad.

I have played many AAA title MMO you can think of, on release. WoW, Tera, GW2, Rift, Aion, FFXIV 1.0, and many more less known titles.. I have never had the inability to play them for this long. So, have you played many mmo's on release? To give me such a remark, I think not.

Aside from my personal, and relatively slight inconvenience of not being able to play the game right now; I'm actually kind of glad that people are rage-quitting. In a weird sort of way, it's weeding out the ritalin-sniffers and trolls.

It's sad that so many of these threads offer nothing constructive. (Google "Juvenile-onset disinhibition disorder")

Yeah, I'd like it if the queue popped instead of just seeing 1017 forever each cycle through the log in. Though, at the same time I've had two queues where I've been X in line and then at the end the only thing waiting for me was an amazing 1017 error.

    Sigh.

    Oh well, patience is key.

I disagree. I've also played many games at launch - ALL other MMOs have had at least certain measures in place to ensure even if you were locked out , you could queue up and eventually get in. They also have systems to book AFKers. Letting ppl AFK indefinitely makes no sense, especially with a population lock. And no PR from SE?

It seems like they aren't trying very hard....

Im on Midgardsormr. And yesterday I got back around 7.30pm couldnt log in until just passed midnight... today same story... since 11am couldnt log in.... If this is the beginning I dont want to see the end... Either they fix it.. increase the population limits on servers.. or they are just going to loose players on the spot... Considering that you have to buy the game and then pay to play it.. makes me more angry because in fact the game was given to me by my brother as a birthday gift... and this is what he and I get... error 1017... for 8 straight hours... I think people will increase anger about it, SE please do something or you will start getting a lot of returns claims soon.

Except that many of us have offered constructive ideas. Implementing an AFK time-out, as one example. The "facts" that you cited are, in all actuality, not facts at all, save for the first, which was vague and subjective. What are "flaws?" A "flawed" launch has historically included things so minor as briefly high lag spikes, or quest bugs. Those hardly compare to being unplayable. "Acceptable" practices are subjective as well. Acceptable to whom? Not to the players, who ultimately finance the game. If it were "Acceptable" to launch a game this way, why have so few games been launched in this way? Citation needed. As for your third point, that's not even a pretend-fact. That's a question of preference.

Your whole post comes off as pretentious. Please be more credible.
